what about gray market phones? |

A friend of mine has a gray handset T-68 not T-68i think they will allow a software upgrade for the mobile?
He is in India and has a R1B version.

To my knowlege Grey Market phones are eigther copys of proto types that has somehow ended up in the market.
These, again as far as I know, will not be accepted for upgrading at a registered SP.
My tip is basically to stay well clear of them. No warranty, no support, no... Basically all service can offer does not count for these phones.

in the philippines, "gra(e)y market" phones are those that's acquired from unauthorized distributors.
but i think he's referring to the color of the phone. |

'Grey market' refers to phones bought by unauthorized distributors or even authorized distributors from foreign countries (they buy cheap phones from promotions) which are then unlocked (usually promotion phones are SP-locked or Network-locked) and sold. For example, one buys a locked T68i from Operator X for US$ 200 in a promotion, then unlocks it and sells it for US$ 250 or 300. Imagine this done on a large scale, i.e. not with one phone, but with thousands... |
