on a serious note, its a shame this happens really as it sounds like the owner is a breeder. they want to breed new and wonderful types of cat, but this causes errors in nature to occur due to the inbreeding...

Could be fake, thought cats eyes didn't open unti lthey were 2 or 3 weeks old?
@Batesie: Yeah, its the same with corn snakes, i've seen a few disasters due to inbreeding, etc, people trying to get colours they like.

I don't think that is a fake meths...i have done some digging around and have found quite a bit of information on cats with birth defects...lots of pictures and info on this link
here's another cyclops kitten ,and the eye is open on this one aswell.

Yes i am aware of that,i have raised cats and kittens aswell...but this isn't a normal kitten, maybe because of the abnormality the kitten is born with the eye open?

that could be true. Since it has only one, maybe it will automatically open the one.
I wish one of the cyclopse cats would live.

There's some museum over in Belgium which has a human cyclopse. Apparently it was stillborn, and was pickled and put on display.

According this article the kitten may have had neurological disorder.
“Holoprosencephaly” causes facial deformities, according to the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, part of the National Institutes of Health. In the worst cases, a single eye is located where the nose should be, according to the institute’s Web site.

With the eye being much larger, could it be that the eyelids are too small to close around it, and thats why its open?
