W800: Always accept file transfer by Bluetooth? |
leenuss Joined: Jan 08, 2006 Posts: 32 From: Sweden PM |
I'm transferring files by Bluetooth.
I've used Sony Ericsson File Manager and MyPhoneExplorer too.
Everytime I transfer files/delete files, I have to click "Accept" at my W800. Once for each file and each folder.
The phone is already setup to always permit connections from my PC.
Is there a setting in the SE software to always allow file transfer?

as I recall, phones have done this since my first T68/T68i and I have never found a way to change that behaviour
I agree though, once paired the phone should really accept automatically

the latest firmware (actually r1n too for that matter) allows ask once permissions on bluetooth.
HOWEVER, there is still some concern that you'll inherit a file transfer bug if you update to this firmware. I suggest you read the firmware thread (the first page a must, and perhaps the last 10 pages or so?).

Strange!
I changed the phone setting to ask everytime, and then back to the "always permit" setting.
Suddenly, it worked again using SE File Manager.
Problem solved
EDIT: I'm on R1AA008 btw. and it seems like the MS Duo Bug is really gone. That's a relief.

DOH!
It allows transferring files from the PC to the phone without asking.
But as I delete files in the PC file manager, I still have to accept each file to be deleted on the phone.

I think for some but not all. It's an invalid parameter error when copying large blocks of files from phone to pc. However not everyone has the problem and I think it was numb or etaab, who found that by plugging the cable into all usb ports on the computer in turn (letting it detect on each one) the problem was rectified.
But then some have tried this solution with no luck....

glad to help
I've yet to upgrade myself, but I want to - just don't know if I could deal with file transfer issues with everything working so stable on R1L as it is

Weeeee!
All the problems are now gone. Why?
1. I uninstalled the Sony Ericsson PC Suite.
Unstable software. It also dropped the paired connection with my phone after not being used for 10 minutes.
2. I ran Windows Device manager. My Billionton Bluetooth Adapter was recognized by WinXP SP2 as a Blutonium Bluetooth Adapter and Microsofts own Bluetooth Stack.
I disabled all the MS Bluetooth support, and replaced all drivers with my Billionton drivers. (The disc shipped with my adapter)
-------
There's a new desktop icon named "My Bluetooth Places". It's 16 colors, pixelated and ugly, but Bluetooth works even better without the SE software!
Instead of the SE File Manager, I can see "Entire Bluetooth Neighbourhood" in the Explorer. Inside I'll find my phone.
I'm now transferring files, creating folders, deleting stuff as I want to. No need for accepting transfers.
I'll never go back to MS Bluetooth support or SE software |

Next project:
I'll try to locate the Windows extension in regedit. If there's an DefaultIcon folder, I should probably be able to change that "My Bluetooth Places" icon? |

Alright! A quick search for "bluetooth" in regedit and I found the registry key.
Icon has changed. |
