Sometimes when I reply from T68i's WAP browser then a message This post was posted from a Nokia appears under my post. But my phone is T68m upgraded to T68i R2E006. Where is the problem ?? |

Come on no need to be ashamed of having a Nokia!
I think it's an Esato problem in the fact that sometime it reads the phone type wrong. I have seen other users with the same problem and an explanation was gived but i can't remember it. Maybe Laffen can shed some light?
BTW Laffen if you're reading this why has the page select scroll down bar gone of the long threads like the UK thread? (Didn't want to start a new thread on it)

@DANN
All WAP phones sends a user-agent string along with the page request. The T68 sends "EricssonT68/R101" the T68i sends "SonyEricssonT68/R201A", Google sends "Nokia-WAPToolkit/1.2 googlebot(at)googlebot.com", the Ericsson R600 sends "R600 1.0 WAP1.2.1" and the Nokia 8310 sends "Nokia8310/1.0 (04.53)".
But no phone access wap.esato.com directly. They all have to send their request via a WAP-gateway and the WAP-gateway forward the request to the destination server. The WAP-gateway should not modify any of the original data, but it may or may not forward the user-agent string to the server. The only reason why you get a faulty phone identification in a post is because the WAP-gateway don't forward the original user-agent string. I don't know why they don't do this. The programs on Esato only knows a couple of user-agents. Most Sony Ericsson phones are recognized, and some Nokias. If the user-agent string is unknown, this is reported as "This post is posted from a WAP device".
@edwardm
I had to change the navigation because I'm forced to lower the montly bandwidth usage. It's now almost exceeding the 160GB monthly bandwith I'm paying for. The old navigation code in the most visited thread (Pinoy Chit-Chat) was almost half the size of the entire page!
@cadcad
Yes, Esato is missing many Nokia phones. All phones and some Nokias are recognized correctly (see reply to DANN). I haven't, and will not add the rest of known phones. The Esato logfiles shows over 600 different user-agents (KNockia/0.1, Opera/5.0, ERICY-R300d, SIE-3618, Nec DB700 etc), and I can't add all of them to the phone database.
