I'm about to use davinci to load the latest W800 firmware to my K750, I was just wondering if there is any file that I can upload at the same time that would give me k750 icons instead of those hateful orange W800 image icons that come with the Main and FS files, please... Thank you very much

Ok, so I'm perhaps not a guru "guru", but I may be able to provide some food for thought!

When using DaVinci, it reads from two files when flashing the phone (locations of which you can specify - after downloading from the DaVinci server), they are 'Main', and 'FS'. I have no idea what happens if you were to use Main=K750, and then FS=W800 or vice-versa (this is one for the real gurus!) But I wouldn't be terribly comfortable trying this one myself, and really do doubt that it would be a terribly useful thing to do!

You can specify which content you want DaVinci to load onto the phone… Similar to branding perhaps… But then where does one find the right content file, if this is the way to go about it?

On a personal note, I flashed my K750i to a W800i, but soon flashed it back (albeit still to a more recent K750i firmware than was previously on the phone) as the lack of the Activity menu was very annoying. It cannot even be access via shortcuts - just gone! I too wasn't a big fan of the orange W800i icons on a primarily black phone.

I was thinking more along the lines of a modified firmware version, if such a thing is available it would be from DaVinci, I think...

As far as I could see, DaVinci, only lets you download a limited number of variations on the firmware (different versions, and different locations) - sadly there is not option as to the style of logos etc.

I find it real difficult to believe that the two of us are the only people so far who have had a SERIOUS issue with those horrendous orange w800 icons in our 750s... c'mon, there's got to be a simpler way to get the walkman and not have your 750 look like an orange clown inside... lol

Haha, as I mentioned, the icons weren't the big problem - it was the Activity menu (or lack of). It's nowhere to be seen, a foolish step backwards.

In comparisson to the W800i software, the one big downfall in the K750i (music-wise) is that pressing the music button on the side of the phone will only launch the player if the handsfree is attached - on the W800i, it plays regardless.

Seriously though, the K750i MP3 player is -ok- (just ok). If you fill the card with favourite songs, and are happy to pop it on random - it's fine. Then at least you've still got your the use of your Activity button and don't have to lug your iPod along for short trips - that's when I most use the phone's player.

I reckon still update your firmware to the latest version for a few welcome bug fixes - but keep it K750i, mate! This way you will probably be able to use SEUS over DaVinci as well - saving a few dollars!

As you noted in the W810 forum, ajape - the W810i (and hopefully all phones after this) solves the old 'to Activity menu, or not to Activity menu' question

there are several ways to synch audio to the K750, and also playlists are easy to knock up on the phones interface itself. When I'm sick of the same order I just create a new playlist and add the songs I most want to listen to.

You can synch with itunes and the Mass Storage Synchroniser, Disc2phone, or even Windows Media player 10 (but that only supports mp3, not aac)

The W800i doesnt have orange image icons. The menu is practically the same as the K750i but with a Walkman logo added. If you dont like the orange that is shown in the promotional pictures all you need to da is change the theme.

Actually, jc, when I flashed my K750 to the W800 firmware, I was surprised to find that all menu icons of phones (including the make/receive call icons) were in the style the W800i.

A friend of mine who bought a W800i early on in the piece did in fact have K750i icons on her phone as you suggested - perhaps this is something that was altered in more recent firmware versions?

@ max - Might you be able to provide more details, or links to relevant posts on the topic of auto-filling playlists on the K750i, from say iTunes or this Mass Storage program you speak of. I tried a program called iTunesMyPortable, but this wasn't terribly flash, nor free.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough... What I meant was, for example, the phone icon that appears inmediately after you press call to start a phone call, the window that appears with the number you just just dialed and the text "calling" underneath... it's a horrendous little orange/white clown phone, not a k750 icon. All the OTHER times a phone icon appears is the same nauseating clown phone icon, too. There's GOT to be a way in which this can be fixed... even no icon at all would be better than the current icons, in my view...

EDIT: No offense meant to current w800 phone owners, JC... It's a wonderful phone full of great features, otherwise we would not be stealing its firmware to use on our K750s. Just a matter of taste, like they say, and Im very happy for all those who enjoy going about the world everyday with an orange/white phone in their hands and loving it. More power to them!
