I'm considering to finally go ahead and upgrade my Orange contact in Feburary. I have a SE T610 which i had about 1 year and 5 months. I had no serious problems with it and love the phone. I am used to the phone's system and love the features on it.
So i thinking to stay with SE. I've checked the Orange shop and these are are the choices i have which would be free on the tariff i'm considering to move and renew my contact on which would be staying on for 18 months.

* Sony Ericsson K300i, K600i, K750i, W550i.

Moving to a Nokia is also tempting as i would have these choices:
* Nokia 3320, 6030, 6230i, 6630, 6680, N70

I have heard/read on here that some SE K series have problems or "bugs" which does put me off a bit. But i would prefer to have something very similar to what i already know from the T610. I have been recommended the K750i by Orange.

I'm open to comments and suggestions about these phones (especially the K750i), e.g features, problems. user friendly ect from those people who had them or currently own them.

I will read what has been posted up on the forum about K750i in the mean while.

Regards,

It seems that a natural upgrade for you would be the K750, as you are a T610 owner...

Great camera, expandable memory etc...you know the rest

Ack, i rang Orange Online direct and found out that it will cost £49.99 to upgrade to a SE K750i. The Customer Service Operator is also offering me also a 10% off my line rental as well so now i have been drawn into it!

When i spoke to another Customer Service Operator enquiring about an upgrade and tarrifs and promotions, they said that getting the 10% off line rental promotion wouldn't be possible as the tarrif that i choosing which offers 300 mins any time any network plus 500 inclusive text is an promotion on its own.

They suggested that i wait to see if the price of the handset goes down (it may even go up!). But also there is a chance that i may not get this "10% off your line-rental" deal thrown into it as it depends on the Customer Service Operator discretion if i ring back on a later date.

I'm really in a dilemma now as they Customer Service Operator will be phoning back soon.

EDIT: As expected the Customer Service Operator did ring back on the time i gave on the dot! I still was unsure about taking up this offer as my other Contract promotion is still running and ends in Feburary plus it was so sudden and don't think i was ready to choose. So i decided to leave it but i have the details of the Customer Service Operator which i ring again in closer to the date when my other tariff promotion starts to end. Again i know the risks loosing out on deals by then.

I would personally speak to Orange customer service, and then tell them you want to leave them and when they ask why, tell them because you can get the K750 free on contract on any network from any shop (just look around and quote a deal that you've seen to them) They should then want you to stay with them and offer you the phone upgrade for free.

TBH its really ridiculous to be asking £49.99 out of you for a K750. They're just trying they're luck.

@ Pallister: Yeah, thats what i was thinking and yes i have read the reviews on the K750i and it does seem to be a very good phone.

@ leeboy13: I'm not sure if that is free, as i didn't ask, but the K600i is.

@ ryanmachin: That's is a good idea. I will check the other Network Operators/mobile retail shops to see if they are giving the K750 for free on a similiar tarrif or promomation (eg 300 mins any network, any time + inc texts).

I have been with Orange for a very long time and a loyal customer from Orange from PAYG to Contract. I was hoping that i would get a free K750i phone and a good deal on my contract upgrade staying with them but obviously it seems not. I was so disapointed

Im on 02 and it worked with me when i upgraded to my S700 last January - got it free! And my friend that has been with Orange for about 4 years did this in august last year, and got a free upgrade to a W800.

The K750 has been free on a new contract for ages now, anywhere you look (eg Carphonewarehouse etc etc) its free.

Give it a go and let me know how you get on

@ ryanmachin: Ok, well i give it a try and see what happens. Otherwise i'll say i be leaving them and they will be losing out on a loyal customer (which is true!) and see what they offer me then!

People can still reply to this post if they wish!

Regards,

the chance of them offering a free upgrade to that is pretty slim though. I wonder what the price for a W810 on a brand new contract is going to be though. I did get my W800 free on contract the first week it came out...

@ dantheman82: I don't think it would be worth staying on the tarrif that i'm on just to wait till the W810 comes out (if it is available on Orange).

The tariff promotion that i am currently on gaves me 120 mins any network, any time 30 texts included for £15. After the promotion has finished, that will go up to £25 i will have no inclusive texts either. I am also playing for 120 text bundles, 4mb GPRS bundle and Orange insurance. So before the promotion i'm currently paying £32 per month (excluding all the extra calls, texts etc) and that will go up to £42 per month after the promotion has ended.

I rather go for some a tarrif promotion that will offer me more minutes (300) and text (500) for £35 (which will also remove my text bundle). This will work out around £44 per month including the insurance and GPRS bundle which will be saving me money on contract and be more vaule worth. I tend to use all my inclusive minutes too quickly and go over my text bundle adding more to my phone bill.

@ ryanmachin: Yeah, but i guess its worth a try throu. The W810 doen't seem to available on Orange contract yet.
Lucky you. The only free phone i got on Contact is my T610

w550i and k750i and even the w800i is free on orange mate - definatly on upgrade - i got myself a w800i on orange about 4 months back, and that was an upgrade! theyre just trying to get your money.. TBH ive found youve gotta be lucky with the person who answers the phone (with orange customer service) as some will bend over backwards for you and some will skank the arse off you.....

basically i got on upgrade:
w800i
200 xnet mins and 500 text for £30 - i know some people will say it aint that good but at least i didnt pay a penny for my phone huh

search the forums mate, theres some incredible o2 deals on at the moment (best is on upgrade but you obviously have to be with o2 to start with )

in short - phone orange and say you wanna leave - when they say why, say because every single other network will offer you the phone you want free...... they should come around (id avoid being arsey tho)

@ leeboy13: Well you got to remember, Orange have rights to change promotions and phone prices, so they may have changed the price of the handset from the time you got your W800i.
I remember when my boy-friend decided to go for a new contract, he wanted the Nokia 6600 on a tariff of £25 offering 120 mintues of any network, any time minutes with included a promotion of 1/2 price line and text bundle of 120 (if brought part of the contract) for 6 months. When he returned a week later, the Nokia 6600 handset price went up to £30 and he was not happy but still decided to go ahead with the contract.

I went to T-mobile, o2, Vodaphone retail shops, Link, CPW and Phones 4 U and all of them are offering the SE K750 free on tariffs between £25 - £40 (Link and CPW) on new contract and free on ugrades. The type of mintues and inclusive texts they are offering vary from Network and shop. I don't find that fair the other places are offering the K750 free while Orange has put a price tag on theirs with a tariff which is high enough for it to be classifed to be free.

I had good look and play around with ithe K750i in the Orange shop depsite of the security woman telling me not to fiddle/change the settings. I found it very similiar to the T610 and i loved the look and feel of it so at the moment have my heart set on that.

i am very confident that you can get w550i, k750i and w800i free on orange - especially with www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk

see link:

There are so many deals on here where not only the phone is free but also you'll save on line rental, i hope this helps in finding you the best deal.

Yeh, If you really tell them that your leaving and start asking for PAC number (for transferring you number to another network) they will give you whatever you want for free. Its great!

Go for the W800 if you can, definitely the best choice out there at the moment.
