Thats basically what it is yes...

scanR is easy. Just three steps and you're done.
Using scanR is as simple as sending a picture message. Just take a picture, send it to scanR and you’ll receive the scan in your email.

1. Take a picture
Position your camera phone over your document or whiteboard. Fill the viewer screen as much as possible without cutting off anything you want to scan. For best results, try turning the phone 90 degrees to the left or right to find the direction that fills the most of the screen. Hold still and take the picture.

2. Send it to scanR
Create a picture message (sometimes called multimedia message or MMS) and send it to:

doc@scanR.com for documents
wb@scanR.com for whiteboards

If you want to send a copy to someone else, just include their email address in the subject or body of the message. If you want to fax a document include the fax number in the subject or body of the message. Typically, your phone will send the message to scanR within one minute.

3. Check your email
You will receive a copy of your scan in your email as a PDF attachment. If you sent a fax, you will also receive a text message when the fax is successfully sent. It takes less than a minute to send to your email and up to five minutes to send a fax.

What you need.
Any camera phone with at least 1 megapixel resolution. Smaller resolutions and VGA cameras will not work.
