I cant get mt SE W800i to turn off. Its brand new straight out the box. It turns on ok and everything works fine, but when i press the power button to turn it off, nothing happens. Am i missing something here or is the handset faulty?
Please help. Thanks.

First thing i would do is open the battery case, lift the battery out enough for the phone to turn off. Sometimes they have a funny five minutes !

If the problem continues I would be speaking to whoever supplied it and ask them to replace it.

Make sure you are pressing down and holding the power button down until it shuts down. Takes 2 to 3 seconds on mine.

Like the previous poster wrote, you have to hold the power button down, not press it. You press it to turn it on and hold it to turn it off.

@MK5.ESCORT I was assuming that you have already tried holding the on/off button for a few seconds long enough to have the phone switch off.

Only resort to what I have suggested above if nothing else is working.

Thanks guys (and gals?)

Yeah i tried holding the button down for 10 seconds as per SE advice.
Looks like its a phone call to Orange then for a replacement.
Just unlocked this one and flashed it to sim free spec too. Back to square 1 again!

Yeh, they should be able to swap it for a new one.

Make sure the key lock is not active when you try to switch it off.
