I've received a set of HPM-70 earphones for Christmas, and although the sound is amazing on them, I'm having difficulty actually keeping them in my ears.

I was wondering, do you have to push them right into your ear canal (so that they are effectively wedged), or do they simply rest outside the ear canal in the shell of the ear? I've tried each of the three sizes of the rubber buds, but no joy.

Thanks.

they should be wedged into the ear canal. if they fit well then the sound is great. if too loose then the bass is weak and they drop out of you ears. try each of the different sizes again.

They should be wedged in so they feel comfortable. The rubber-like external covering is made to block out any background noise so the music seems even better.

Just shove em deep into your ears. Yup all the way in. If they are the right size then they shouldnt come out again.

OK... if you use your right arm to reach over your head, grab the top of your left ear and pull up a little. Then, use your left arm to insert the bud into your ear so that the "tail" of the bud (the bit which extends away from the main, spherical part) is sitting around you ear contours... You should also feel you aer cana nicely "Filled" by the bud.
The sound should have volume, bass and clarity (!This result will oly be achieved with both buds "in")
At first, you may feel a little uncomfortable... many people do when first using IEMs (In Ear Monitors)... you'll get used to it eventually.

This should let you get an impression of the sound quality.

If the fit is not good, then try swapping the rubbers... try all 3, because when you might think that the fit is too tight, and you need smaller rubbers... in actual fact, sometimes the bigger ones are better.

Eventually you should be able to insert them without having to "swing" your hand over you head... but you should still always use two hands to open up the ear canal for easier entry... this way you reduce the chances of soreness and damage to the bud.

really hope this helps.

Happy Holidays 2 everyone )))

Can anyone tell me, is it possible to buy just the adapter/mike part of this, so that you can plug in your own headphones?

Thanks

no you have to buy the whole thing complete, but that doesn't mean you can't use your own headphones still. You can use any headphones you like.

They fit quite well. I just didnt expect them to fall out as often as they do. They dont really stay in much better than the HPM-70s for me.

Maybe I should try a smaller pad so it fits further into my ear.

I was having some of the same fitting issues some of you have had with the HPM-70 earpieces. I could not get it to seal properly in my ear canal, so much of the bass was missing. It seems a air tight fit is a must if you want bass with these "in the ear" type headphones.
So, what I did was take a ordinary foam type ear plug, (the type you squish down and then put in your ear, and it expands to close the ear canal to block noise), I wear these at my job because of loud noises.
Anyway, I took one of them, cut it in half, so its not too long, made a hole through each one of the halfs, removed the rubber thingy off the ends of the HPM-70's, and slipped on the foam earplug halves.
Let me tell you, it makes a huge difference in the bass response now, because using the foam earplug like this, makes a airtight seal every time, and it makes a comfortable fit too. Also cheap to replace when they get dirty, and best of all CHEAP!
Your results may vary, but its a idea anyway.
Here's a pix of what it looks like.

I have tried my own headphones (creative) in the 3.5 jack and thought it sounded rubbish.
