K700 radio better than K750 radio ? |

My radio reception is poor, at home I cant get most of the stations tuned in Stereo. But at work (in the city where most radio station transmission towers are located) I get very good reception in Stereo for all channels.
Then I compared a K700 at home, side by side with my K750; the K700 can pick up most of the channels in Stereo, however there is a little bit of noise in them but tuned in Stereo where as the K750 picks them up in mono.
I think the problem is because K750 is too sensitive and switches to mono at the slightest signal drop, where as the K700 tunes in stereo even when the reception is not so good.
Furthermore when I connect the 3.5mm audio adaptor and connect a pair of head phones it becomes really bad.
Any of you guys experience this ?

Maybe it's the type of headphones that you're using. It's pretty difficult to make a comparison because they use different headsets (because of the different ports) but have you tried making the comparison using the headphones that came with each phone (especially for the K750 without the 3.5mm adapter)? |

Yes, First I compared both of them with their default (bundled) handsfree units. K700 signal proved to be better (tuned in Stereo). Then I compared with the 3.5mm adaptor thinking that it might be a problem with the handsfree unit, but as I said in my previous mail the quality really sucks with it. This can be noticed when the signal is not so strong, like when traveling in a car or at a remote place, etc...
I am hoping perhaps the new firmware will make things better... But I highly doubt it.

As far as I know the radio on the K750 is the same as the w800's. I appreciate the headphones are different so it's possible the reception may differ either way a little ? Anyway, my w800's radio is far better than my previous k700's. I can pick up more channels and with the rds feature maintain a better signal on the move. Ok it retunes from time to time but for me the improvements are significant over that of the k700.

@marlonski
That is strange.... what is your firmware version?
Yes W800 and K750 are same. So if you get better reception on your W800 than what you did with the K700 then that means there is a problem with my phone or the handsfree. I am using the bundled handsfree. It is an original AFAIK, cos it came sealed in the box and the sound quality (for MP3s n stuff) is good.

@optiplex my w800 currently has R1AA008 installed. My K700 has R2L001, perhaps it is something to do with the K700's firmware, maybe in this particular case the firmware has nothing to do with it ? Either way I maintain that for whatever reason my w800 has a better reception. The fact that I can pick up more channels from my home is one thing but also the actual quality of the signal is without doubt better IMHO.
I just accepted that as the w800/K750 have RDS radios the overall performance would be better. Strange that some of you guys have not noticed any difference.

I have R1N035, comparing mine with a K700, the K700 is definitely better in picking up signals. I’ll see if the new firmware can make any difference. I’m still waiting for it to be released to APAC 1. It might fix the stereo problem, cos I think it is the software that is making it mono when it can be picked up in stereo with a bit of noise. |
