At the top of my screen, it has "ROGERS AT&T ROGERS", can i make it shorter?
bcoz' that is too long and it covers my wallpaper >.<
i asked rogers and they said I should ask Sony Erisson instead -_-'
Do anyone knows how to fix that?
Thx so much! |

No, it's in your sim card. Welcome to ESATO mate, and remember that the search option is your friend.

Nice to meet u, Tranquil!
but my friend has only "Rogers AT&T" at the top
and we're buyin' the sim card at the same time~
shouldn't it be the same?
coz I'm pretty frustrating about it -_-'''
I feel that's a little too long for the company name~

Try putting in your mate's SIm card and you'll see what I mean.
It's to do with the manufacurig dates of the card. I used to have only NetCom on my phone, did a SIm change and have N NetCom now.
If your mate has a newer SIM card than you, do a Sim cange at uoyr nearest shop, it might cost a bit, so if you think it's worth it do it. But as long as you keep your prsent Sim card you'r stuck with with what ever it say on your screen.
Sorry...

Service Providers can sometimes update the sim card remotely...not always, in such cases you'll have to get a new sim as suggested above.
example: T-Mobile in the UK, if you call their support number in the menu there's an option to update your sim to their new logo.

The above scenario is the same. My friend's T68i says UK VODA and mine says UK Vodafone. But I dont give a damn |

Your provider programmed your SIM with the operator names, it is possible to change this via an operator SMS (T-Mobile do this for people who still have One2One on their displays).
This is not something that you can do yourself unless you have the correct software and know what to change on the SIM Toolkit. It is controlled by your operator who will be unlikely to want you to change it!

i think that the name is not in the sim but in the phone.
The sim has a code and the phone relates every code with a name.
Here in spain, airtel has become vodafone. If i put my sim in an old phone, older that a year I get airtel in the screen. But if I put my sim in a new phone I get vodafone.
So i Think it has to do with the phone, not with the sim.
Try your sim in your friendīs phone and let us know what happens.
Anyway you cannot change the name, it could be done with nokia but...

Is your old phone a Nokia that has had a network logo sent to network code 214-01 (which will overide the network name)?
If you put in a new SIM from a network operator that was created after your phone, how will your phone display the network operator's name (which was created AFTER your phone)? I will put good money that it will not display a blank name!

That intepence from the software version you have...
In NY with T68 and R2E006 you see Voicestream in your screen and after you update to the latest version you see T-Mobile,
the new name for Voicestream.
The same happens and in Greece with GR Vodafone.
Before the update was PANAFON... |

The name is stored in the phone and not on the sim. The sim only contains the country code and company code. If you use an old phone created during the time when the phone co. was nonexisted, you will see the code on screen. If youre using a new phone, it will interpret the code and display the name of the co. This is the reason why when you upgrade SW sometimes the name displayed will change.

An example is cophia's post in this thread. He said his code is 214-01. This no is stored in the sim
Mobile Country Code 214 = Spain
Mobile Netwrk Code 01 = Airtel Movil
And the interpretation is stored in the phone. |

Cophia> my old phone is a t28, and it displays airtel, not blank... So you have to admit you were wrong
Is the name stored in the phone?
what do you think Cophia?
