you don't have to bother with paint and ps. you can use acd see to resize and crop pic. or office picture manager, they both are very easy to use.

... or just use the standard "image editor" provided in the disc with your phone. works splendid if you just want to resize the pictures to the size of your screen!

| The k700 uses more pictures for one theme so resizing only isn't enough... |

something like ps or paint shop pro (I use paintshop - have an old version but it works just fine for this sort of thing.)
The old images can be retrieved form the theme by renaming it from (example) themename.thm to themename.tar and then you can open it as a tar archive (you need to download and install Winrar if you don't already have it - or some other archive program that can handle tar archives)
Once you have opened the theme as a tar archive, you will see all the images and the xml file that make up the theme.

Can you not just change the .thm file name to .zip then unzip to a folder. you then find all the contents as individual files.
Open up k750i theme creator and import pictures where needed trimming them first.
Sorry for sounding vague but thats the way I have done such things.
Oh wait just tried importing version 3 themes into k750i theme creator and it converts them all for you

you can't change it to zip if you are using winzip, since winzip can't handle tar archives. You must use an archive program that supports tar.
If you are using winrar, you will be able to open the tar archive, but not create one (winrar cannot create tar archives, only open them)
If you install an archive prog that can create tar files, then you can manually create a theme by editing the xml file in notepad and tarring up the xml file and images manually.
just saw your edit - correct, none of this is strickly necessary since you can convert themes, but conversions aren't always 100% and sometimes (especially if converting from S710 to K750 for example) you will need as you say to trim the files first. In such a case you need to extract them from the theme to edit them.

Never meant winzip.....I have both winzip and winrar. Its all zips n rars with a little added tar.
Just converted several old k700i themes that i had made for use on k750i and there are a few images missing but otherwise all is good. |
