apologies people if this already been covered.
I have a Sony Ericsson v800 on a Vodafone PAYG sim. I can get Vodafone live free tv and its pretty cool. However I want to debrand the phone to Sonys original firmware and not the Vodafone stuff. If I do this will I then lose the ability to use my Vodafone sim and also the ability to watch Vodafone free tv?
thank you |

If you debrand a v800 you will not be able to access anything to do with vodafone live, including the tv bits

thanks,
Just for experimental purposes could I install the Sony firmware, have a play round with it and then re-install the old v800 firmware back.

you can flash it to SE firmware, and then get the wap and 3g settings sent to it and use the vodafone live services as normal as far as i'm aware...

i agree with batesie. should have no problem after debranding. just make sure you know the wap address for the free tv site and as long as your voda sim is in it should work fine.

There has been discussions about this on sense. It seems that vodafone recognises what phone you are using. I know for definate that a Z800i (or a de branded v800) will not work on vodafone live.

I also agree with batesie here, once unbranded your phone should work absolutely fine with vodafone's wap/3 g settings.

It depends on the operator. In france for example the vodaphone operator (sfr) check the user-string agent and with a z800 flashed v800 it's not possible to view '3g' content as z800 isn't recognized
