I'm looking to buy a new K750i, but i'm seeing different branding and i'm not sure whats going to be different. My only stipulation is that the shutter noise not be active while in silent mode (ie no shutter sound when in silent mode)...I live in the USA.

here is a picture showing the QuickShare "branding" as i'm refering too. The other place selling the K750i has "Vodafone" in place of "QuickShare".

Quickshare is NOT branding, it's the a feature Sony Ericsson made to send pictures quickly after taking them. If it says quickshare, it is (generally) unbranded. Unless someone buys the sticker to replace theres. Dont get a Vodafone, theyre horribly branded.

vodaphone does not allow you to use your own mp3 ringtones, has horrible icon menus, has a vodaphone live link instead of the more link and some other differences. as he said about its just the sticker but if you buy a phone from the shop with the quickshare sticker on then it is unbranded which is much better. depends what country and what fw you get to determine the shutter noise

I would agree with that although for some strange reason my mates branded K750 can use mp3 tones as ringtones and these are not tones downloaded from voda live. The twighlight zone dude

I have to say the icons on his phone compared to the unbranded version are complete cack !

My wife has just got a samsung e530 and although there's a voda start up screen there is no obvious branding on the phone. Icons are as they should be. It still does live and so on so why do voda need to cack up the K750 in this way ?

Not with my voda w900i, i can use mp3 as ringtones.
Also the w900i in silent mode has no shutter sound!

My voda k750i allows me to use mp3's as ringtones. Nothing secret about it, just chuck them on my mem stick and away I go.

I wish I hadn't bought the branded phone though. I'd never had a phone that was branded before so I had no idea there was a difference, but as most of you have said, voda just cacked it up!

Wow i haven't posted in a while... anyway, back to the topic...

I have a V600i (the vodafone version of the K600i) and i can use mp3s as my ringtone, but not ones that have been purchased from vodafone as they are locked. Also, i have just switched to this phone from a non-branded K700i and i was surprised to find that the vodafone software really isn't bad. It doesn't lose any functionality, it looks good, although it is a bit less colourful...although a quick theme download will fix that. I think that people are complaining too much over little things. The Sony Ericsson original software is better, but not by a lot. Get whichever takes your fancy mate. Sony Ericssons are all good. If you are getting a 3g phone though, you might want to get the one that the network you are on sells as using one they don't sell may mean you lose functionality through incorrect set up.

As I said mate, perhaps they've seen the light

nb, my mates k700 branded to vodafone cannot play mp3's even when using drm packager. His firmware was one of the versions that wouldn't allow it.

Glad to hear that some of you guys can actually use mp3 even with the dang awful branding voda stick on some of their foons
