Beware! - Fatmui (ebay) sells FAKE housings! |

(BTW, the seller is called "fatmui", NOT "fatumi". Most people here keep misspelling the name.
I bought a complete housing with buttons and all from FATMUI from ebay. Many people here recommended this person for having 'true' oem housings.
I recieved the housing today, and notice ASAP from the buttons were NOT original. Then moved on to the other parts, and examined them extremely carefully, and found out they are not OEM either!!!!
This is the auction from FATMUI that I bought from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayIS[....]767097&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
And the description says "Original Sony Ericsson..."
I will most definitly contest this person as I've wasted 30$ on crapped quality housing!
Without a looking at them extremely closely, I would have think the housing was OEM. But some of the buttons were OBVIOUSLY not oem.
"orange peel" effect was on most of the buttons, including the chrome camera button. For those that don't know what "orange peel" means, it's a term used in the auto painting enthusists to describe a paint job with an orange peel effect that is a sign of low quality painting.
Below are pictures I provide and description of why I find to be non-OEM.
- The chrome camera also has a PERMANENT finger print due to handling before the paint could dry. And it's not smooth either, it also has orange peel effect.
(below) Check out the dent.
(below) notice the mold imprints on different locations.
This housing is obviously fake because primarily of the poor paint job. And with a very very close look, and a good eye, you can tell the paints don't match with my OEM.
SE would NEVER let this happen. Even if it's one of those "bad" batches, ALL big companies have Quality Assurance system, where they inspect parts before it leaves the warehouse. My k750i has absolutely NO flaws whatsoever. If it has a very minor or few flaw, then I would accept the ebay housing as original.
When I got my k750i, I examined it just to make sure they didn't give me a used phone, or an open boxed item. (I'm very anal in this kind of stuff). And as expected, not even 1 finger print, or oil smudge. It's as if the workers assembled these using gloves as they are suppose to.
I am furious (I know it's only $30, but I hate to be cheated), and have emailed "FATMUI". The name of the seller was "Tammy", different name from what others mentioned I believe. We'll see what happens......
BTW, does ANYONE know where i can get REAL k750i housing???

yep your right they are fake, I also bought one when revamping a k700i (i think from the same seller) I had for sale and as soon as I got it I noticed it was a fake (i work with alot of repair jobs and you can tell by the plastic quality). But when I got it I noticed that the colors were not quite right, I found the joystick button was not moulded properly and would not go on, the screen protector was way to thick, there was glue around the joints, the screen was porer quality, it did not fit together quite right, the plastices broke much more easily and were softer, the back metal plate was not a great fit and didnt feel right in the hand, then fitted to the phone for those who do not know better it just feels a bit off, but I wasnt very happy about it esp since I was told it was oem, but then again as it wasnt for my own use I didnt care as muc, thought it has to be said they are much better quality then the ones I have bought previously

I've had a few fake 'OEM' facias too, all from Hong Kong or somewhere in that neck of the woods, including a K700i one. This one looked pretty good, but you could tell by certain things, like the 'quickshare' sticker being made of a slightly different rubber/plastic.

I tried putting the fake keypad on the fake face, and ALL the buttons was so tight to each other that it just got stuck. EVERY button!!! From the top 3 button, to the 9 numeric button! Amazing how crap quality this is.
I bought extra housing just incase I screw my own housing in the future, and won't be able to buy anymore. |

make sure it says oem, try to look to see if it says genuine, also if its from hong kong theres a good chance its fake. just use your common if you want a real one. oh the real ones will most likely be more expensive aswell

Here is response from Fatmui after I had email her....
"....This housing kit is originally supplied from Sony Ericsson Hong Kong for repairing in service centres. Impossible that Sony Ericsson supplies fraud items. "
I highly doubt that, unless the seller doesn't know she is selling imitation items.
Too many factors that differentiate from OEM and these I receive. |
