Hey ppl,

I've got a p900, before that had a p800 and before that t68m with t68i firmware. So I think I have been loyal to SE for some time. The time has come for me to change my handset as p900 doesn't support pro duo for some ridiculous money making reason, and the service centres won't flash the p910 firmware ... and I don't think it is now worth the money to do a 900>910 flash elsewhere. I like the w900 but there is no way I'm settling for the branded vodafone one (plus I really like the black one), but who knows how long its gona take for these to start showing up on contract (thats another thing I need the minutes so phone has to be on contract!).

SE have lost the plot with the p990 completely, the keyboard takes up half the screen, the main reason i like using the p series phones is because u can have a nice BIG screen with a virtual flip to mess around with. So I'm not waiting for that, plus I'm sick of waiting anyhow!

Nokia on the other hand have some pretty decent phones which will solve my problems namely the n90 does everything I want and more as does the 9500 (but bit big and getting old). I'm also considering getting a 8800 and an ipod nano. Since the 8800 can't do much it can't go out of technological fashion anytime soon because it never was designed to be that sort of phone.

So help me decide ppl...carry on waiting for SE to sort it out or move to nokia?

well... there is nothing wrong choosing Nokia but it isn't the only other choice. if you are after a big screen PDA with a great keyboard, wifi, browser, email etc etc etc you could consider the i-mate JasJar or K-Jam or other HTC variants

I would probably still be on the P series if it wasn't for these windows mobile devices

have you looked at these or taken a look at my little write up in "A couple of my mates. Meet JasJar and K-Jam (many pics)"

Thanks for the advice, I'll take it into account, they look like brilliant devices they both have the features I'm looking for...but!...I forgot to mention one more part of my stupid criteria...The device has to look more like a phone than a pda! Maybe thats the reason I'm having trouble...but thanks anyway.

Because I need a new phone at the end of the day, not a pda, so personally I want a phone to look and feel like a phone when I talk on it (ergonomics) stupid but thats just me i guess! For example The 9500 is big, but it still feels like a phone when you talk on it as does my p900 (at least with the flip attached), but the xda 2 doesn't really feel like a phone, i fear it will be the same experience for me with similar style phones.

ok thats understandable, if you don't mind me asking then, why not just go for the P910i as your new phone. it may only seem like a small step up but you keep the same styling shape and size as the P900 but wth the added feature of Pro Duo slot, like yourself the P990 has been thrown away by me because of that stupid fixed keypad and smaller yet higher resolution) screen.

so basically you are saying you want a phone that can do some pda like functions, another option may well be an orange spv550 or something along them lines!

hope these comments aren't complete rubbish and maybe of certain help to you

No they are very helpful, you seem to have understood my criteria! You are right the p910 is a plausable option, but I don't think it can survive the test of time- If I had the guts I'd do the 900>910 flash as pro duo is the only feature I need to keep going for a while, but my phone is insured and I don't think they will like it if I get it flashed. The keyboard is useless for me and just adds bulk to the phone, I hit 2 keys almost everytime with my thumbs on the 910.

completely agree, the keypad on my P910i went out the window (the first one literually went out the window on the 3rd storey of my house) and it fits in my pocket so much nicer and the virtual keypad is so simple!

not sure how long the P910i will be around, as you rightly mentioned, because the new P990 has moved onto a newer version of the UIQ operating system, hence programs shall not be multi-compatible with with both.

maybe something like the spv's would be a good choice, windows mobile operating system so you have all your pda fucntions, it is a phone at heart, it has a real phone keypad (not sure if thats a good thing though after knowing what the P910i touchscreen is like..perfect!)

decisions decisions hey! well maybe if this thread stays high up people will see it and maybe we can get a few more varied opinions in here for you to consider!

lol, decisions, decisions indeed. Thanks again, I'm gona check out the spv phone your talking about, but I still think I have to play the waiting game to be perfectly honest...which annoys me a bit considering SE have released the w900 and all i want is a black one on contract right now it's like they are just playing some sick torture game!
