Try MXit a South African java program. If you are looking for such 'extra features' you should really consider upgrading to a smart phone.

Id say the built in 'My Friends' is the best if ur phone isnt branded. I use IM+ as a backup tho it cost me £12. And u dont need a smartphone for these. Do a search for My Friends ;-)

'My Friends' is simply like MSN Messenger but for your phone and uses WAP. It lets you use your existing MSN Messenger, Yahoo, ICQ (and i think) AOL accounts via your phone- so the best thing about this feature is you can chat to computer users. It's better than any other JAVA based messenger programs because it is built into your phone, runs perfectly in the background and seamlessly works (you can for example, assign msn messenger contacts to the corresponding contacts in your phone's phonebook).
You need to sign up to a service which offers this feature. The 'My Friends' feature doesn't work on its own, it needs to have settings entered into it and it needs to connect to a server in order to work. Go to www.yamigo.com. This is the best place for a free IMPS (Wireless Villiage/'My Friends') service which you need to use the 'My Friends' feature. Sign up, enter in your messenger settings (account usernames and passwords) then click 'Get Connected' on the left menu list to find the settings you need to enter into your phone. (To help, ive included the connection settings you need to type into your 'My Friends' feature below:
Username - This setting should contain the name of the user account obtained from the Yamigo Server.
Domain - This setting should be left blank- or you can enter yamigo.com (any other domain will be rejected at login).
Password - This setting should contain the password of the user account defined on the Yamigo Server.
Server - http://yamigo.com/wv/control
Internet Profile - This setting points to an existing internet profile configured on the mobile phone. Use an appropriate profile that will facilitate connectivity to the HTTP URL of the Yamigo IMPS Server.
Allow Connection - This setting allows you to specify whether the IM Client can be used when connected to any network, or if it should only be used when connected to your home network operator. Specify Home Network in most cases to avoid unexpected, and often exorbitant, data roaming charges.
