Here is a good place to point out your comments for SE to consider for the new firmware of W900i.
After nearly 3 weeks of playing and discovering W900i with the follwoing firmware R5AC011 the follwoing problems on the current firmware our found :
1- W900i can not do multiple characters search on contacts.

2- W900i screen saver you are only able to choose either picture or
none. There is no standby clock.

3- When the phone is on and you press power button once, there will
be menu to change profiles or shut down there is NO Flight Mode,
unless you turn the phone off and on start up choose it.

4- When the battery indicator is yellow and then red and at last grey,
your ringtone will be automatically change to default sony-ericsson
tone eventhough on the settings is showing your chosen
ringtone. This will remain until you charge the phone.

5- When you change the Theme, all the settings you have assigned to
the Jog dial UP/Down/Left/Right will be reset to original factory
settings.

the battery indicator changing the ringtone will likely not be changed as the reason it does this is to save power.... if u have selected an mp3 tone then it will consume more power wen played... so to save power wen its at its lowest SE have seen it fit to have the firmware change it.... u may find if u av a battery saving mode option in settings an u switch it off that this may disable tha feature.... worth a try...

I've got R5AF001 and there are two things i would like SE to update. As 'Aafshari' said the standby clock on screensaver and also when you send a message you get a delivery report (if turned on) it stays till you press ok, and if one is there when you get a message it will delay the message popup, want it the same as the k700 were it will disappear after a few seconds, I'm just being a little picky with that one.

As for the other suggestions from 'Aafshari' I've got multiple characters search in contact list, my ringtone doesn't appear to change and neither does the shortcuts!

Here I found another strange fault.
When you recieve a delivery confirmation of the message the time is not same as the time of your phone itself. This is unbelievable fault again hope to be corrected in the new firmware.

Revert to the old system of pressing "C" to make the phone silent and again press "C" to mute the ringtone. The press "C" to mute the ringer was a great and quick way of silencing the phone, why did they have to change it. SE if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!!

I've found a weird fault too. Write a new text message with English T9 on 'cre' or 'are' and some weird character comes up. I've got a Voda handset btw!

After a long and scary process of trying to flash my W900i... I finally managed to change my W900i firmware

from:
Firmware: R5AC011
PRGCXC1250252_CHINA_SA R5AC011

to:
W900_R5AF001_ZONE_1_EU-EMEA.W95
and the language file is:
W900_EU5_EN_IT_FR_DE.W9D

Now I can finally have the multiple letter contact list search function... that function definitely saves me time and and easier to search my contacts.... I just hate scrolling down to search my contacts... especially when driving...

Phone: SE W900i (White) Since 13 Dec 05
Firmware: W900_R5AF001_ZONE_1_EU-EMEA.W95
Language File: W900_EU5_EN_IT_FR_DE.W9D
Other Phone: Nokia 6100 (White)

SE has enabled multiple character search for K750/W800 on the latest firmware R1AA008 even for China firmwares. Maybe they'll do the same for all upcoming firmwares for the other phones.

Since I updated the firmware, I discovered a problem, I found out that the phone does'nt produce the camera shutter sound when taking pictures...

Does anybody have that same problem or know how to fix it? Would I have to reflash the firmware? Thanks

@ Jamin,

I know it works that way but, I liked the "C" button better, and since it's bigger, for someone with big fingers much easier to press.

On the positive side. It's nice to know who is sending you a BT message but, it would be better if the senders name showed from the start rather then only while its receiving.
