A new type of text message called StealthtText self destructs in 40 seconds.

StealthText allows you to send a text message safely in the knowledge that it will delete itself from the recipient’s mobile phone as soon as the person has read it ultimately, allowing the sender control of their own information. www.stealthtext.net

yeah, I saw that on Sky News yesterday but to be honest 40 seconds is just too short.

Also, I have been a user and tester (and have a lifetime free subscription to) http://www.readnotify.com/ who have had such a facility available for a number of years already and for this function you can actually specify the time before the message self destructs

thats really sweet to pull a joke, or send messages to your secret girlfriend.

however it could be abused by spammers and advertising company's.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

These might be some "flash messages" a feature my operator had for some years... the message would just flash on the screen for some time (or until one presses any key)... But never at any point of time does the msg goes into the sms inbox...sounds similar..
