Hi there,

I've got a W800i and all the accessories but I don't like the headphones that come with it - So I use a pair that I've had for a while.

Man difference is, my pair are full length whereas the original ones have a shorter cable so they plug into the hands free cable that comes with the phone.

Problem is, you end up with a really long cable so I've been looking at getting a shorter headphone adaptor

I've seen these on Ebay :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Headpho[....]goryZ42424QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And they appear to be just the right length but I've got a few questions if anybody has used one :-

1) Are they any good? Last cheapo accessory I saw was a car charger that plugged in and then took about 10 minutes for me to get out - It was a real tight fit in the phone and badly made.

2) When one of these is plugged in is it detected by the phone as a headphone or as a hands free kit? Currently when my headphones are in if the phone rings you can only talk through the microphone on the cable - This doesn't have one so what happens when someone rings?

Thanks for any help

I use my original W800i adaptor and use a rubber band to hold together (shorten) the cable on my "proper" headphones.

A rubber band is cheaper and more reliable than an adaptor!

i just wrapped the extra cable round my cellphone, makes it neater and stops you (or your girfriend) form dropping the thing...

I also bought one of those adaptors with the mic, but since the cable is too long and the mic is like halfway down the wire it’s a bit impractical to use it (especially to answer calls with it). So now I’m back to the original hands free unit when traveling, adaptor is only used when I’m at home listening to MP3s or Radio.

DavieP,

What happens when the phone rings?

On the normal hands free cable there is a microphone but on the short adaptors there isn't.

Does the phone detect this and let you talk normally (i.e hold the phone to your mouth) or what?

Cheers

@ Cubik:

hey man, those adapters are not for W800i or K750i for that matter.. it has a 2.5mm jack, wherein w800i or k750i has a serial end type..

To rockafeller,

They are the right type of adaptor, one end plugs into the phone and the other end connects to normal headphones.

Like the adaptor I have now, but shorter and with no microphone.

Main reason for wanting a shorter adaptor is to get rid of the tangle of cables caused by me plugging normal length headphones into it.

Just wondered what happened when the phone rings as there is no mic on it

Cheers

To ptb1st

Thanks for the reply - Looks perfect.

Only thing I need to know is when one of these (or the one I originally posted) is plugged in - What happens when a call comes in?

There's no mic so what does the phone do? Work normally? Or can you hear but not speak?

Cheers

So, has anyone on this thread been using this for a while, how are they working out?

And when a call comes in, do you have to plug the adaptor out to answer the call?

I've used one similar to that one, although it has a very short cable on it. It works great, but yes, you do need to unplug it when a call comes in. I answered a call once without realising I hadn't pulled it out, and thought my phone was broken...
