D750i MP4 Videos - how to make them "Brief" guide by Me |

Hi guys, I'm new here and new to mp4's and all that.
Well I just spent about 12 hrs demoing and trying to find a good method to make reasonable quality
videos for my SE D750i.
I came across this method just 2 hours ago after finding a good mp4 encoder that worked well.
I decided to make a small guide on how I did this.
I dare say there is a great deal of room for improvement
here, but I'm new to all this and since
this way got me good results I'd like to pass it on.
If there is anything anyone could add to ammend my guide,
or they notice something that could have been done
differently or a way to improve results, please feel free to post them and rectify my errors.
Code:
| My brief Sony Ericsson MP4 video Encoding guide
What you will need:
Sony Vegas or another similar movie tool
which will allow you
to encode in mpg/mpeg and also allow
volume alterations and such.
(My tutorial will be based on the use of the tools I reconmend and use.)
Main concept Mpeg 1 and 2 plugins for vegas
Imtoo Mpeg encoder
Mpegable X4 Live player or Quicktime for playback of newly rendered mp4 files
Ok Heres What we do:
Find the video you want to put on your D750i please make
sure it is at least 720 x 480 and of Good Quality.
The higher the quality it is in large form,
the better it should be in 177 x 144 form and
if possible it should be in .mpg format.
Open Vegas and open the video you want to use.
Any alterations we do on the video before we make it an mp4 we will do here.
Check the video for a good sound level if need make any alterations.
Now, once you are happy that the video is okay,
we need to render it a little smaller 352 x 288.
We do this by going to render as, and selecting from the save as type list "Main concept mpeg 1"
Next we click custom.
Select the video tab output type should be mpeg-1.
include video stream should be checked and you should input
the frame size as 352 x 288.
Frame rate should be 29.970 and aspect ratio 0.9751.
I-Frames should be set to 15 B-Frames to 2 and Video quality should be 25.
Insert sequence header and write sequence should be checked.
Check Constant bitrate and select 1,700,700 then click the audio tab
Include audio stream should be checked
audio mode should be stereo mode
psychoacoustic model should be model 2
audio layer should be audio layer 2
bitrate (Kbps) should be 224
No emphesis
Sample rate (Hz) should be 41.100
Click OK
Give the video a name in the file name box and find a place to save it.
feel free to tweak about with these settings as quality requires.
You will end up after this render with a file about 10 mb bigger
than the original, im sure some tweaking in Vegas could change this,
although the file I made in vegas was
10mb bigger, the end mp4 was actually smaller than an mp4 I had made from the original.
Next Step:
We need to close vegas or leave it open hell it's your machine lol.. and we need to open imtoo mpeg encoder.
once open, select the file we just made in Vegas.
In the profile box at the bottom we want to select
MP4 but only the one that says MPEG-4 Video Format (*.mp4)
the other 2, one is for ipod and the other for psp although
i have gotten the psp to work it isnt suitable so please select this carefully!!!
chode a destination to save the mp4 via the destination box at the bottom.
Next click on the file you added to be converted
and on the right is a config box, here we need to alter some configurations.
1. Set video to 176 x 144
2. Click on bitrate, click the part where it says auto
(this config can be confusing
to new users so I'll explain that you need to click on the cell next to bitrate where it says auto
to change the value) here we set the bitrate to a value
between 100 and 200 the lower
the value, the smaller
the end file will be.
I had it set to 150 and got a 55mb file down to 8mb with good quality audio and video.
3. Change Frame Rate to 15 anything higher and the video will play incorrectly on the d750i handset.
4. scroll down to audio
5. the aduio codec should say mpeg4aac
6. change bit rate to 112, you can use 96 but 112
sounds better. again the lower the value the smaller the
end file, bit with compression and reduction comes loss of quality!!
7. set sample rate to 44.100.
you can probably go lower but I havn't tried it.
again I gues this would aid in a smaller end file.
8. set channels to 2 stereo,
you could probably use 1 mono but my guess i
s the end mp4 would sound nasty.
make sure dissable audio says false.
Click ENCODE |
|
Hope this helps. If this method works for other phone
models please post it and let other know so that when they search for making mp4's it will let them know its possible or not.
The end result I got can be seen here.
This mp4 opened and played for me using quicktime 7 and mpegable x4 live player.
The orginal file used was 37mb at 720 x 480 @ 1960kbps. I mention this cos some systems can be fussy about playback. Media player did not play this for me at all.

1) Please add several CR or LF in your text. It is unreadable as is.
2) I seem to remember that such a guide already exists on this forum. Use the search.
3) Welcome here.
Thanks
