When I try to compress one of my mp3's, dbpoweramp said:

"the 'power pack' & mp3 encoding license trial have expired."

I thought that dbpoweramp was a free software. anyways, any of you guys know an alternative software that i can use to convert and compress music for free?

dbpoweramp is free software, but the mp3 license and the power pack is not.

Lots of different ways and software for ripping/converting, depends on what you want to do ?

Do you want to rip from cd to mp3, then Windows Mediaplayer can do it

Do you want to rip from cd to mp3 or mp4, then Itunes can do it.

Do you want to convert from mp3 to mp4 then dbpoweramp can do it even without mp3 license. Also Itunes can convert mp3 to mp4.

Just some examples, there are many other ways.

Thanks for the tips numb. What I specifically want to be able to do is these:

1. convert to/from wav and mp3
2. convert to/from wmv and mp3
3. be able to lower the bitrate and frequency of mp3 (to lower file size)

What do you guys think I should use?

I don't have time to download that as of now. But is it a free program as well?

same thing happened to me using version dMC-r11[1].5

I uninstalled it and installed the older dMC-r10 and everything's fine now.
resistance is futile.

Yeah, it seems that the Power Pack is automatically enabled in the new version. I don't see any significant difference anyway (except the blue progress bar on the new one) because the codecs used are the same.
resistance is futile.
