Why .dd files on SE site? |

Just wondering why SE put all free download files in .dd files..why don't SE directly provide .mp3 .thm .jpg .png-any file in its working format? I know how to get the direct link by Notepad anyway,yet it takes much time. Any idea why SE does so?

open the .dd file in your phone  you'll find your phone can read the .dd file and take you to the direct download link in your phones browser.
your getting a .dd file because your using a html browser on a computer instead of using your phones way browser, thats the reason!

i think .dd files are the ones with the digital rights management by se. if you upload it to your fones it will be placed in thier corresponding folders, i guess.
