Go to www.howardforums.com and do a search in the sony ericsson section on upgrading.
If you have a T68m there's a guy on there that upgrades the software/firmware on the phone so it's a t68i.
He did my phone and was pretty fast. He's done quite a few. He's in the north east somewhere. He charges like 20 bucks and then the cost of shipping.
Sorry to be vague but the howard forums are slow right now and I'm on my way out the door from work. |

man i am sooooooooooooooo f-ing happy. my uncle works for roger (att) in canada. i totally forgot he fixes phone from motorola, nokia and SE. so he is here from canada and is staying for a few day. when he heads back hes gonna take my phone and upgrade it for me and ship it back. man this is so awsome, hes also gonna show me how to unlock all the other phone and maybe try to get me the machine to flash the chip. its which i doubt he says its only for authorized service centers only. so he might get in trouble for getting the machine for me.

Lucky you. Lots of people in the U.S. have found how lame the SE service center are in regards to upgrading the firmware for their phone. Hopefully that'll change as more are sold here in the U.S. Not sure about canada's service centers.
Although most of the wireless providers are only sellling t68i's and not the t68m's so I would think their primary focus on support will be with t68i's .
They guy that upgraded it for me works for a wireless company, pretty ironic . But he did it on his personal time and his own equipment. So I took my chances.
I bought my phone from expansys.com so I didn't have to worry about it being locked. Lucky me, because voicestream rates suck here in Hawaii, and switched to AT&T, all buy just buying a new sim card. I believe all the phones currenlty sold by AT&T and Voicestream are all locked thus can't be used on another wireless network. |
