Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help here, as I'm at a loss.
I'll try and keep it short ...
Normally I spend between £100 & £150 on my mobile bill.
This month however, the bill has arrived, and is in excess of £950!!
On investigation, Orange have told me that 308 megs of data have been downloaded through my phone.
I use the phone for the odd WAP browsing, don't have a laptop, and don't use the phone as a modem in any other way.
The only thing I can think of is that I have Bluetooth on the whole time, and for the period the phone has sppposedly downloaded the information, I was stuck in a hotel for work.

Does anyone know if there is any security issues with Bluetooth on the K750i, such that someone could use the modem on the phone without my knowledge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as at the moment Orange are being rather unhelpful, and saying that I am liable for the data downloaded, and the bill must be paid.

Thanks in advance for any advice, help, or info any of you can give me.

Rgds

To use your phone as a modem, one needs to pair the phone and the bluetooth enabled pc. Surely, this won't Happen without your knowledge...

Yeah, that was what I thought, and I definitely didn't pair with anything.

Just stumped as to how this has come about.

as far as they are concerned it's a bank error in their favour and they scored bigtime. They will try and make you think that they think it's your fault, but they know that their billing system makes mistakes. They will never admit it though.

Just don't pay the bill, and tell them that you are not going to pay it because you DIDN'T USE what they are telling you you used. They can not prove you did. Tell them you are prepared to swear in court that you did not use the services they claim. You know you didn't, because it would be bleedingly obvious to you if you had downloaded $900 worth of data That's alot of something downloaded somewhere - you'd notice.

It's quite simple, if you haven't used it, you don't need to pay for it.

Max,

Thanks for the response. I've already agreed that I'm not paying the bill until they review it all.
They've told me that they will come back to me within the next 2 weeks.
I'm still astounded that they think that I could have downloaded this amount through my mobile, when they can see that for the past 11 years my bills have been within a certain boundary.
Bizarre.

I'll let you know what they come back with...

Dont Orange put on a credit limit of what you can spend in one month? O2 have capped mine at £75 (I can get it raised) as I never go near that limit so if I hit it they think something is a bit wrong.
Get orange to provide evidence of when, where and what you downloaded.
