Its loud enough, just like a mobile but has only one tone. Also features a snooze function, quite cool

whats the top bit, looks like it opens or somthing? or is that the button you hit (softly of course) to activate the snooze or something?

It does open and has the clock/alarm buttons and the same flip can be used for the snooze function. It operates off one aaa size battery which is located on the bottom.
