Hey,

I have a k750i which recently had a large number of the buttons and directions of the joystick stop working.

The numbers 1,2,3. The Select button and the Down, Right joystick directions are non-responsive. However i can turn the phone ON using the power button but the same button will not turn the phone OFF?

I have taken the phone apart to make sure the buttons havnt become unaligned with the pad under but couldnt find any evidence of that.

I have also upgraded my phone on the SE website but the buttons are still not responding.

Anybody know what could be the problem and how i could go about fixing it?

I bought the phone off eBay 4 months ago and it has been working up until last week so im not too sure if im eligable for the Warranty.

Thanks, Danny.

Sounds like water damage to me, which means B.E.R. (Beyond Economic Repair) which means it'll cost more for the parts and repair than to buy a new one. But I'd bring it to my local SE service centre if I were you to see what they say, its still definiteley under the manufacturers 12 month warranty as they were only released in March/April. Good Luck

Hey, thanks for your replies.

Ill take it into my local SE centre like you have said. What will they need to see when i take it in? I once took my k700i to be upgraded and they wanted to see some documentation but as i have said i bought this k750i off ebay so only thing i have is what is included in the box.

Thanks,

..also max, I noticed you are living in Sheffield. Im currently at uni there. Where can i find a SE service centre in Sheffield as i dont fancy having to make my way back home to Manchester just to take my phone into an SE centre.

Thanks.

go to medowhall and go to carephonewarehouse.

theres 2 carephone warehoues in medowhall go to the one near argos and not the small one.

I just took my phone just that and they were happy to take it in for no charge. I bought my k750i off here so all i had was box aswell

if they ask where you got it/bought it just say it was a present and so you have no reciept etc

if you have nemore questions post..but if i dn't reply within 24 hours pm me a link to the htread as i sumtimes 4get to check if ne1 has replied

Hi there, i'm new here. Had exactly the same problems with mine even down to the power button turning the phone on but not off. I took it for repair but they're claiming water damage so I did some research on google and found this. I know 100% completely for definate it's been nowhere near any water to be damaged by it leading me to believe something is definately up. The fact exactly the same has happened to you leads me to think it cannot be a coincidence. Besides, my sister dropped her GX10 into a cup of coffee and it worked when it dried so my phone would at very least have had to have a full dunk to do anything like that. Think I might have noticed that somehow!
When the problem started I'd literally put it down next to me on the desk next to my keyboard, I picked it up and when I pressed 2 it turned off then I had to turn it on again. I couldn't do anything though as my SIM pin uses 2 and 3, I changed it on another phone to 0000 then when the phone loaded everything I found the stick didn't work when pressed right or down. The morning I was due to take it in I tried it one more time and it worked for about 5 minutes and then turned itself off again, back to how it was. Sounds very sus to me.
