The sim is activated on gprs right? But for GPRS to work you need to have the correct settings for the phone which we get when activating GPRS here in India. So if we want to use the same sim on another cell we just request our service provider for the setting for the particular phone.
Sorry if this doesnt answer your problem.
Oops just found out you are in India too!!!

I got the settings from airtel. The same stuff for mobile office, but it doesnt work on the 6600. It connects, that is, the gprs connect symbol shows, but the page does not load up. Any suggestions?

Blue, have you tried an app called Settings Wizard? It automatically configures your S60 phone, even allows you to select which network, etc... Will send you the link.

Tried that too mate, doesnt work. It came up with settings which were way too old. When i manually entered the settings, the phone got connected to the gprs network but no page was loaded ie 0kb. On typing in a url , it tries to connect but finally comes up with the message no gateway reply.
i am so confused! |

Blue, it's a fairly long shot, but try entering 0.0.0.0 for both Primary and Secondary Name Servers; enter None for Proxy Server Address, and enter 0 for Proxy Port Number. It's really all i can think of right now, hope it helps or gets you closer to the solution, bhai

@quill, all those settings you wrote are correct. I have the same settings and it works perfectly for me. I think its might be a local problem.

How come its working on one phone with the same settings and not on the other ?? :con:
On the 6600 the 'g' symbol shows..... On trying to connect, it connects the g in a square appears but it stays like that ! The home page just refuses to load up and it says 0kb.
On trying with some other web address for eg. wap.esato.com , after a couple of seconds it says 'service error : gateway not replying' .
airtel cc says the same settings should work. Maybe is it a smartphone....will there be something different... ?? |

@quill, the Airtel folks are correct.
The settings are allright.
The Ngage is a smartphone too and the same settings work perfectly here.
Anyway, i have used the same settings on a 6600 and it works perfectly too.
Now tell me what browser are you using to connect to the web?

Download opera or netfront browser and try again.
I seriously doubt its a browser problem rather than a connection one...
