Right, i came across these tips while surfing, thought they were a tad unusual. If you know of any other unusual tips, post 'em.
Hidden Battery power
Imagine your cell battery is very low, and your expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia phones come with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged again when you charge your phone next.
Use your phone to open your car
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are home, call someone at home on your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person at your home press the unlock button on your spare keys, holding it near the phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the boot).

The battery life - *3370# is not a battery life extender, it activates a service called Enhanced Full Rate, which *may* help with audio quality, but most new phones have this added anyway....

I guess it might work if the car alarm is turned on and off by a (audible or inaudible sound), but I really dont see how that can work on most car alarms that send a radio signal on a specific frequency

If it's actually a sound wave that is produced, which the phone can pick up and relay, then it may be possible.
However a lot of cars work on radio waves, which won't be transmitted by the phone.

If the car+phone thing works, you can just keep a record of the signal on the phone and use your phone as a key, provided the recorder is able to pick up sound waves of such high frequencies(if they are transmitted in the first place). wish cars used :bt: |

for those that use sound I imagine it would use frequency hopping like rf remote locking, so recording the sound on the phone wouldn't necessarily work.
I'd be surprised if too many use sound anyway, most these days are rf.
