O2 UK and the W800i |

I have asked my auntie to call O2 and check availability of the W800i and they have been saying they don't have any. They have been saying this since the beginning of September!
Anyone had one off them recently? I really don't believe that they have gone 3 months without having the phone in stock! |

try calling early in the morning about 10 or 11 maybe and they might have stock.
Or if you are a renewing customer go throught to the retention line and say you are leaving because you dont have the phone and maybe they will "suddenly" have one in stock.

i got one off them a week ago today!
i did have to wait about 4 weeks though. They were genuinely out of stock. But they did have some in last wednesday. I was dealing with retentions (they are the best department to talk to as they have the most power to use limited stocks and offer line rental deals).
also i have found with o2 in the past that the best way to check if they are REALLY out of stock or not is to phone their new customers sales line and pretent you want to start a new contract and buy a particular phone. They always give priority to new customers as they are desperate to attract them so they often have stock available for new customers but not for existing ones. i recon this takes the p*ss but hey it's what they do.
if sales line says they have in stock, jus say thanks i'll call u back later. then phone up customer care and unleash fury about how this is a terrible way to treat customers etc and u kno they have lied and u can usualy get a result that way with some persistance!

@welshtom
yeah, i'm trying to upgrade and the prices I get quoted for the handsets is ridiculous.
I'm getting asked to pay £120 for a w800 when new customers will have to pay max £49.99 on o2 online.
I might aswell cancel my contract and start a new one, that's how well they treat their existing customers (in my 3rd yr).
Does anyone else experience this? |

mike thats how its always been but the current focus with networks, o2 and orange especially, is customer retention and keeping current customers. If you call them and threathen to cancel and move to another network you'll suddenly find the price of the handset drops! funny that eh

just tell them your leaving. you'll get put through to retentions (who are the only department who can offer the goo deals anyway!). tell them your not happy with the customer service you've seen better deals elswhere etc etc.
i got given my online 200 tarriff for halfprice so i now only pay £15 a month and a W800i for £29.99!
on my second contract with them back in june i got 500 xnet anytime mins and 400 texts for £15 a month!!! plus a k750i (which was brand new at the time) for FREE!!!
so it really is worth haggling because they can afford to offer you a very good deal!

I would agree. Talking about upgrades /threatening to leave is pointless. Just ask for your PAC code from the start.
Within about 24 hours, you'll be called by the retentions department askng what they can do to keep you. Every year, ask for the same:
1. The handsets you want
2. A free tariff upgrade (usually next one up, dont be too greedy )
3. Free Accessories to go with your new phone (BT headset etc)
4. ENSURE ITS A 12 MONTH UPGRADE CONTRACT!!!!
I can't stress the importance of point 4. I didnt ask once, and they slapped me on a 24 month contract, the cheeky feckers.
good luck.. |

good point! definately make sure they only put you on a 12 month contract!!! most the opperators including o2 are now trying to push their 18month contracts - dont accept them!

yeah i got so pissed off with being charged for gprs last month without any warning that i said i'd like to cancel my contract.
Was speaking to a guy and he wasn't having any of it, asked me my problems, also mentioned higher upgrade prices and he said that's the best they could do. In the end he said i had to write a letter to them to cancel the contract (is this common practice?) which i'm not going to do until i find out if they're going to offer the w900i and at what price.
I will ring up at the end of Dec if they aren't offering it by then and ask for my PAC code. See what they can do!
O2 online handset choice is pretty limited at the moment and have been waiting to upgrade since 26 sept.
Cheers for the advice |
