How can I find out the status of the sim locks on these phones, as there is no menu in them after you do >*<<*<* so would like to know the code to use to find the status of the sim locks on my phones.

K750i DOES HAVE the Simlock status in the service menu (at least mine does).

it seems that some versions don't have that item in the service menu
here is one of a few similar threads on this topic (but with no answer that I have seen)

Is it an Orange branded K750/W800 that ur referring to? As my mates Orange W800 doesnt have the sim lock menu either... |

you could try <**< and see if the padlocks there are open or closed
I've never really understood that menu but I believe it shows network locks etc
