Can a cell network provider override SE's warranty on phones? |

My cell network provider where I got my W800 will only replace a defective product 15 days after the date of purchase, and provide repair for a defective product up to a period of one year. If a product is found to be irrepairable and is beyond the 15-day replacement period, they say they won't do anything so one is stuck with the defective unit forever.
Can they actually do that-- override the warranty SE puts on their mobile phones, which is two years of warranty for the phone itself (either repair or replacement on their discretion) and one year for the phone's accessories? |

The 15 day period is often called an out of box failure period, this may vary from country to country. Here in NZ when I was selling phones, the distributer had very specific contractual obligations as far as replacing a handset that was defective went. (IE no more than xx minutes talk time, time since purchase)
After that everyone had to be sent into the service center, where it was under normal warranty for the rest of its 1 year warranty. If you got 2 years you're lucky
The warranty is still under 's conditions though so if you're worried, send it to one of their authorised service centers. |
