Iv just got a 512 memory stick pro duo come through the post this afternoon. Iv gone to put it in the memory card reader to copy MP3s for tomorrow and it wont see the card. When i put it in, it sees it, but then asks me "insert card into G: drive"
When i put the older (64) card in it sees it fine and i can click and drag away as i please.
My phone can see the memory card so would a format of the card sort this out ?

I think the key is either 1234 0000 or 5555. Theres no point doin format tho as it won't help. The same thing is happenin with my card reader. It won't recognise sandisk. Mines a 512 ultra II but is only recognised through the phone usb connection which is messed up anyway cos of the mp3 bug on the later firmware. Bummer. I think we just need to update our drivers but i have no idea how to in about it. Maybe an email to sandisk?

I tried another sandisk card in my reader, a friends of mine, and it worked flawlwssly. Maybe we got faulty cards or something. I'm out of ideas.

Ok - I have had this problem since I got the 1gb SanDisk Game card. What I have to do to get the reader to recognize it is the following:
Insert MemStick in the Phone
Ensure that the phone sees the card (open the camera slide and make sure that you're addressing the mem stick and not internal memory)
Power off the phone, wait 5 seconds or so after it goes off
Remove the MemStick from the phone and plug it into the adapter.
4 out of 5 times it works for me. |

AHA all the cards that worked have been 128mb or under. maybe our readers can't read duo pro's, i.e the ones ovver 128.
This makes sense as my card reader is over 3 years old and i have t use a memory stick adapter for duo's to work. Can you test my theory and get back to me.

My reader is at least 2 years old and it's one of those that can handle several different formats but it is USB2. It handles CF, MMC, SD, SM, MicroDrive and MemStick. I have to use the adapter for Duo>MemStick that came with the phone but I had to do what I stated above to get it to work. For some reason after I power off the phone with the memory inside it works at reading the memory. If I just eject it from the phone and plug it into the memstick adapter and then into the USB adapter it doesn't work. I also sometime just leave the MemStick>Duo adapter inside of the MemStick slot on my reader and just plug the MemStick Duo straight into it. |

Thanks Tervel, i'll have to try it your way amd post the results. Hopefully it'll work as the mp3 bug on the latest firmware is slowly corrupting all my existing mp3's. soon i'll have none left.
