Odd problem with an s700i, any ideas guys? |

Got a bit of a problem with my s700i, I just can't hear anything if i ring, or ring someone else - the speaker phone works fine, and so does hands free. When this started, it was as though the handsfree set (not the bluetooth) kept turning itself on, and i had to put it in, jiggle it about a bit, then take it out again for the normal speaker to kick in. But now thats not working either! Is there anyway to completely disable that? Forcing the phone to use the normal speaker? Or is the whole thing just screwed?
Any suggestions much appriciated! |

Looks like the Port/ Connector sockets have gone loose over time with use. This has given me enough problems not just with HeadPhone pins but while charging it too.. You'd rather have it serviced buddy..

Cheers for the advice guys, I just spent 20 mins with a small screwdriver and can of compressed gas, and seemed to have sorted it! Tottaly invalidated my warrenty, but there we go!
If anyone ever has this problem, all you need to do is to take the phone apart, and clear up the gunk in the contacts - the chances are that you've lost the rubber protection thingy for the bottom, and bits of fluff are causing the phone to think the handsfree are always inserted. Note, doing this yourself will invalidate your warrenty which without doubt is a really really dumb idea. Instructions for taking a s700i apart are here, Following this tutorial to repair your handset will void your existing product warranty with Sony Ericsson (SEMC):

I take absolutely NO responsibility for damage due to following the procedure listed. Please use this tutorial at your own peril. If possible, Obviously, I recommend bringing or sending your Sony Ericsson handset to an authorized service center for repairs and/or modifications.

Well my network gives me a free phone every year, so should this one actually die on me then its not such a long wait until i get another one. |

Thats a point, hadn't really thought about it! I'll probably keep it as a spare though - always useful to have. At the moment my spare is an old Nokia 3210... |

hm, then rather the s7 as backup. anyway, an upgrade at least twice a year is useful, for the fone and the batt aswell.
