Is it just me, or have Vodafone UK relaxed a little bit...

Last week I received two new contract handsets, a k750i and a w800i.

The k750 was branded horribly (box, buttons, themes and external badging) and network locked.

The w800 however arrived in a OEM carton, had no external badging on the phone, had no Vodafone Live! themes, had OEM menu icons, and is SIM-free! The only piece of branding on the phone is that they have replaced one of the main menu icons with another Voda Live! button.

I can't beleive they have finally realised that their branding is killing their phones. And to finally have a Live! phone that doesn't have 100 buttons that all launch a gprs connection is a joy!

they have also locked some of the data accounts... as I mentioned in my thread "W800i - The first 5 minutes"

(can't believe that was 3 months ago already!)

edit: btw, as i understand it, the phone companies aren't allowed to change the branding substantially from the walkman branding. Vodafone will still be branding most of their other phones though I did get a fully unbranded Samsung D600 from them last week through their telephone upgrade centre
