Before I start rantin, hi from a newbie. Bought a "used" K750i from a shop at the weekend. Everthing workin on it perfectly until today, can`t send/receive calls etc because the phones been blocked by network because its been reported stolen. Can`t understand why some phone shops buy phones from people knowing that they can report them stolen, then again i must be stupid enough for buying a used phone in the first place. Hopefully the shop will still be there at the weekend, cause he`s a nice w800 (brand new and boxed) so he might come round to my way off thinking and offer a swap at no extra ££££££. Rant over, as you were

welcome to Esato

thats about all you can do... take it back.

I bought my V3 from a dealer last year who also sells on ebay and a couple of months later the phone got blocked. I contacted them and they happily exchanged it for a new one but I was pretty upset when I found out it was blocked so I know how you feel.

hopefully they want to stay in business and so will do the honourable thing

Funny how this never seem to happen here in Norway.
I see topics like this over and over again, but never with a Norwegian author. I guess we are too honest to sell stolen phones or our insurances are too good.

Btw; Welcome to Esato!

Yes there is, but since I had a new phone fairly pronto I didn't rally care to follow it through.
On the other hand, I believe it is up to the police to sort out the barring of the EMEI?

I had two phones stolen in Sweden about two years ago, and both ended up in Norway, and both got blocked by my network. Shame I could not do the same with the car and the laptop, and have them blocked as well.

Hi Teash- You can hopew for the better, in that, the shop does that. . . . Two years back, I had a Moto (my Company given) nick.d off me. Since Insurance wanted a Police Report, I did that while also getting enlight'ed. This cell repair guy, The Network Exec ,Cops confirmed that a 'flash' could "fix" IMEI ! Thankfully twas a battered ol phone passed down from my boss & the Company got its claim settled from Insur.. I remember having flashed my ///T10s to T18s & the software DID have an edit option for IMEI

@teash - I just hope that you'll get a replacement mate.

I am just wondering how you will manage to 'detect' stolen units It is but of a common knowledge to have some 2nd doubts when getting handsets that does not have the box that comes along with it, manuals etc. etc, mostly just the handest itself. But when you get/buy the whole package (sealed) and got it from a reputable shop and finally noticed that it's a stolen item - well, that's another - STORY ! [addsig]

Could you not report this shop to the police and trading standards as they are receiving stolen goods and selling them on ?
You may have a good case here if you bought the phone in good faith, especially if you have a receipt for your purchase.

seconded - I'd tell the police the shop was selling stolen goods - but only after I try to take it back once

Cheers for the replies folks, i`m off back to the shop at the weekend (bonus thats its still open), and and i`ve sed he`s got 1 of 2 choices. He upgrades me to the brand fire new (sealed in box etc.) W800, if he don`t wanna play then i`ll get the dibble and trading standard involved. Then again I could always stand outside his premises and approach potential customers of his about his dealings in stolen goods.

And you would be quite within your rights to do this as long as you dont make a public nuisance of yourself, or use threatening behaviour.
I would though, I would tell all of his customers exactly what he is doing.
