The memory stick duo pro that is supplied with the W800i is smaller than a standard memory stick. Duo's are about half the size of the full size memory stick.
The adapter lets you put the memory card supplied with the W800i into things like meory card holders or cameras that take full size memory sticks.
Hope that helps.

yes, the K750 and W800 both come supplied with the memory stick already inserted into the phone

huh? I've read this a few times and dont know what you're asking. The memory stick is called memory stick PRO duo. I guess thats the best name Sony could come up with!

"Duo" refers to the Mem Sticks that are smaller than the full-size Memory Sticks. You can use your Duo on gadgets that take the full-size MS (like a Cybershot cam or a usb card-reader on a computer) by using the adapter supplied with your W800i.

"Pro" refers, I think, mostly to the capacity and speed of newer models (larger than 128mb), hence you won't be able to use an MS Pro or MS Pro Duo on a gadget (usually the older model cams, phones, PDAs, etc) that doesn't yet have support for MS Pro.

@Tripz- As John, JC and Masseur have said- The memory stick adaptrs are for use with OTHER DEVICES than your phone. Since its already packed with so many things, a handset (in so far as I know) has never had two slots for Memory Sticks..

Here in Manila, I bought an original SE HPM-70 handsfree earphones/adapter at around PhP2,700, if I remember correctly (they're either P2700 or P2100). About a month later, "class A" (unbranded) HPM-70 headsets finally came out, costing about PhP300. The main difference is in the earplugs' output sound (although I didn't test the microphone, but I guess the "class A" ones wouldn't be as good either). Using the original earplugs on the adaptor part of the class A one didn't have much noticeable difference. I suggest getting the class A ones and attaching your own favorite brand of headphones/earphones. BTW, to compute, Philippine Peso to US Dollar is approximately PhP56=US$1
