Managed to find this info:
Compal Communications receives handset orders from Sony Ericsson
Daniel Shen, Taipei; Steve Shen, DigiTimes.com [Tuesday 8 November 2005]
Compal Communications has received orders for entry-level handsets from Sony Ericsson, with volume shipments to start in the second quarter of 2006, according to market sources.
Although total shipments from Compal Communications to Sony Ericsson are expected to reach 7.5-10 million units in 2006, Arima Communications will continue to be the largest handset contract maker for Sony Ericsson, the sources noted.
Compal Communications declined to comment on the report citing client confidentiality.
In related news, Compal Communications’ revenues for October declined 2.3% sequentially to NT$2.98 billion (US$89 million), according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The decline was in line with market expectations.
However, the company is still confident that its handset shipments in the fourth quarter will exceed the 10.6 million units it shipped in the third quarter, according to company sources.

LOL@ masseur...That link you provided to the Z300 doesn't make sense...how can the phone have a 4096 screen display in 2006 when it's due for release?
Minimum spec for the next basement Z is: 65K display(176x220), IR( BT would be a bonus). Basically it should have similiar features to the K300 apart from the screen resolution. They could also perhaps increase memory to something like 90MB which would certainly kill off the competition like flies in the Siberian cold.
IMO the Z200 was a miserable flop because of it's poor features...There's enough Nokia's polluting the world. |

I don't know anything about this, just regurgitating another post as a possibility... and this thread is suggesting a low end phone... make of that what you will!

It shouldn't be too difficult since the features I suggested would be two years old by the time the phone goes to market in Q2 2006.

I won't say where I got the Z300 info from, but it's still a market for very low-end phones.
Have you seen the new Nokia 1110? For children of age 5-11 year according to the picture.

quite funny how the market is going these days nokia is launching more and more high end phones while SE is looking more and more at the low end market. sure its a market where they can finally gain marekt share. but i just hope they don't forget to keep up the high end market.
i know SE is looking for a new people to create a entry level phone in sweden. so maby its possible that those people will design and create a new phone that this other company will produce.
as for the Z300 couldn't that one be that cheap ugly looking walkman phone that was discoverd a few weeks ago?

@Bart, Cheap? ugly looking? you don't mince your words?
Mmmmm, an entry level walkman phone doesn't seem too hard to imagine.
I like the K300. If this appears in W300 flip or candybar guise I think that would be cool too. It doesn't surprise me in the least that more low-end phones are making their appearance.

Why not SE just come out with a medium range phone for those seeking phones without camera. Imagine the K600 without a camera but with a 65K TFT screen, bluetooth, a decent battery, memory stick slot, and a good PIM (Sony have been in the PDA biz, they should know what to do on this). Surely this will be a hit and Nokia's 6021 won't be the best buy. Oh SE, do listen out to the users. |

SE should make a low end phone with 128x160 TFT 65000 screen, 30Mb memory at least, in the form factor of a swivel, but since I heard that SE plans not to release anymore swivel phones then it should be at least a slider. That would separate it from the competition. |

Just an idea: perhaps it would be good for SE to rerelease landmark models like the T39 with updated features such as polyphonics and larger memory. Being old timers, they should be easy to mass-produce at floor prices, say $50, which will attract busy low-end workers who need not much more than basic phone and messaging capabilities...

Just saying that if SE put a TFT screen on one of their low end models, then it would make that particularly stand out! At the moment the k500 in Australia is $149 AUD prepaid, the k700 is $269 and the z520 is around $450 outright! All I'm suggesting is a k500, minus camera, more memory and in a standout form factor!
The z520 is too underspeced for its price and the j220, j230 and z300 are just too disapointting.

Sorry. The Z520i can be bought in the UK for £80 including a bluetooth headset.
