Got my W800i today and I installed Disc2phone on my PC and then tried to transfer across some music. I can only get maximum of 2 tracks across, tried several times and can't understand why. Deleted them and thought I'd try fresh, now when I select Walkman from the W800i I get the OPEN menu and phone locks up and only way I can get it back to life is by removing the battery.

Any ideas? Do I need to format the memory card?

Andy.

Stopped it locking up now and I formatted the card using my card reader. Any tips on using Disc2phone?

Please look at the forum for the problem. It's a firmware error and a new firmware are expected at week 49...

Heaps of people having this problem. Tracks disappear even though they seem to have been saved. I googled the problem and found a heap of sites discussing this. A lot of people have tried various things.

One solution someone came up with was...

"Before you use the software and plug your phone in with the data cable make sure you go to the walkman, play a song and then stop it but keep it on that.

Then transfer your songs. After you have done that, before you remove the cable use the "safely remove hardware" button and stop the services."

I tried this and it worked! Before, I'd lose all but one or two tracks, but now I can transfer 20 at a time and don't lose any. It may help when you disconnect the phone to disconnect the USB end of the cable first.

I know this may not work for everyone but anything's worth a try...

I bypass disc to phone now, and transfer manually, then I play them before using the "safely remove hardware" button bottom right of your pc, 99% of the time doesn't mess up, same with videos.

Hmm... I think a cheap an effective solution would be to get a card reader and transfer using that? It should be much faster too. Just my two cents worth. =)

I had a problem using disc to phone after updating my firmware to R1N035. I'm afraid that it is a known bug with the firmware and can be a pain in the a*s. I managed to get music onto my phone and there are several ways that one can do this, bluetooth, slow but reliable, Deluded's suggestion to get a card would be another.

If you understandably want the music to read in the walkman player then I found the only way was to was to use disc to phone. You can do a few things to help with this, in usb properties via my computer (r/hand click removable drive/properties) you can set optimize for performance. You have to click safely remove hardware in this mode, but I did found it helped. Also try and play what you have sent over. This is the same when transferring video. Sometimes I would have to either switch off the phone or take out the card a re-insert. All a pain really. Since updating my firmware I have experienced no problems when using disc to phone or loading media files.

If you do have R1N035 then your best bet is to update your firmware. I have updated mine to R1AA008 and can now use disc to phone with no problems what so ever.

This can be done via sony ericsson update service (SEUS) or you could always use a service centre. For the record, a friend of mine bought one with R1N035 and her service provider actually told her to use SEUS, laughable I know !

You can check your version by performing the folowing >*<<*<*

Where < and > represents pushing the joystick left and right respectively.

This thread will give you a good overview of current firmwares.
