W800 for runners? |

Hi all! First post here!
I have a K700 (and I love it) but I'm thinking about buying a W800. Why? Because of its great MP3 player features. I started running 4 months ago, and now that I'm reaching the 10-15 km mark, I really need some music to forget the long distance... So, I have 2 questions:
1) Is it safe to run with a W800 on your pocket? Do you have any recomendations/observations? If I get one, I think I'll buy that silicone case to protect it, and also cover it with something else to keep it dry. Of course, I would never carry it on (heavy) rainy days. Sometimes I listen to FM radio on my K700, but I don't care for radio music... I'd like to listen to my own CD library.
2) Does the W800 allow you to apply themes, like my K700? (stupid question, I know, but I only saw photos/animations with the basic orange theme)
Instead of buying a W800, I could get those little flash MP3 players that doesn't even need battery, and cost a lot less. But the idea of having a compact all-in-one is really bugging me. I WANT IT!
LOL! Thanks for reading my complaints. |

Yes it has themes and yes you should be able to use it because it has no harddrive to potentially damage

1.
I've been running to the train a coupple of times with my K750, music on, and it seems to work just fine. It's only a 5 minutes run but I don't think it matters if it's 5 or 500 mins.
2.
Yes you can change themes.
Have fun with your future W800. |

Thanks for the quick replies!
Of course I also thought about waiting for Sony Ericsson to release more Walkman models (W900, for example). But I don't think it'll get much better then this:
1) A remote control would be cool, but I listen to albums mostly from start to finish. No skipping... And I think I have enough coordination to run and control the software at the same time.
2) A larger internal memory (W900) wouldn't compensate the coolness of a memory stick.
3) The W800 prices will take a long time to get lower. I don't think I can wait. I'll just "buy it on an impulse". Is it already getting cheaper in your area???
Thanks again. |

I also run with my K700 but would prefer a dedicated mp3 player like the iPod Nano.

I run on the treadmill with my W800i for an hour twice a week, i've had it for 2 months and its been fine. no damage or anything (hasn't ever crashed) and when you run and play music its great. The headphones provided with the phone are amazing, they block out all background noise because of the rubber surround.
Go for it. |

1. You can probably buy W900 remote module later on when it is launched or shortly after. Thank God for universality.
3. The price of W800i in my country actually gone up these couple of weeks. The short stock and huge demand cause the price to raise (most of my countrymen are muslims, and they just celebrated ramadhan, I guess it is like x'mas where they present gifts to their loved ones)... On the other hand, K750i has the bigges price hike, from US$340 two months ago, to US$395 now (and rising)... Again, huge demand, short stock, and people are desperate of buying both phones... What is with all the hype?
As for me, I use my walkman phone from the get go till I got back home again. Loving it... |
