I just got an old trasnfer cable from a friend that works for my phone, however its a serial connector and its extremely slow, so I've decided to cut the calbe and wire it up to a usb cable that i've also cut, only problem is, which wire goes to which. If anybody has some schematics for the data port on the phone itself ie, which connection does what on the bottom of the phone, that would be very much appreciated, and i'm almost 100% certain that every sony ericsson that has this port on it has the same assignment for connections.

Anyways, long and short of it, the transfer calbe has 4 colors, red, black, green, yellow and the usb has 4 also, red black green white, now logically i've hooked them up red -> red, black -> black, green -> green, yellow -> white and when i plug the cable in windows gives me "the usb device is not supported or has malfuncitoned" etc meaning the data trasnfer protocal is not recognized, ie: not the right wire.

I was wondering if the usb data cable uses different connections on the phone than the serial one. if so, please point me in the right direction. thanks

here's the connector i'm talking about and here are where the wires coming from the data cable are currently connecting on the phone itself, it appears the white cable is a dummy cable, however on the usb version it may be used.

i think its referred to as the "system connector" but I can't seem to find which two are the usb send and receive ports.

Honestly all i need is for somebody to take the plastic shield off the plug that goes into the phone itself and take a picture of the wires that go onto the plug connector so i can mimic it.

anybody?

nvm i don't think it'll work without the electronics part for it, it appears like there's something extra to get usb to function properly.
