Something wrong with the members |

Just go and have a look at the various sections of this forum. More than half of the topics posted by the members are so damn uninteresting, boring, unintelligent and in some cases, STUPID. What is wrong with the people who are regulars here? And those who are new, before posting just have a look, have a feel of this forum. Where on earth did all the intellectuals vanish ??
I have a bad bad feeling that this is going to be immediately locked.....

before it gets locked then - i agree, but then again, sometimes i post unnessecary comments, because i enjoy participating in the esato community, and it just drives me to posting some crap sometimes... |

why do you think i only come, and when i do, post bollocks?
because there is no point in being intellectual.

With all due respect, you've only been a member here for three months so I fail to see how you can possibly ask where 'all of the intelectuals' have gone? The same peope are here as when you first joined!
You posted alot of questions on various subjects when you first joined, most of which were answered and / or discussed in a sensible way. If you don't like the fun side of esato, don't read the garbage and mobile free threads

Thats a very good thing to say.
What happened with me is, that i was trying to be nice, intellectual, helpful to the moderators and newbies but after a time esato just downgraded into people:
disregarding all phones but se
being over patriotic to esato
being rude to me because of my age and not accepting my opinion
good members leaving because of stupid newbies
and the moderators are sometimes unjust aswell!
etc. etc.
now i fail to see the point in being 'intellectual' and 'nice to all' because everyone else isnt.

@Cycovision
Very true, i have been a member for only a few months, but these few months have been an enlightening experience for me. I have read through many threads which have helped me learn a lot. But if you have a look at many of these threads today, they seem just so uninteresting. Many times they are highly repetitive. You will also find threads where the subject has no relation with the body. I can easily give examples but at this stage i am refraining from doing so.
Let some of the 'seniors' here say what they think about what i have suggested. Is it something that everyone agrees with?

There has been several threads like this over the years, in fact there was one just a few weeks ago, the general feeling is that you are correct but only to an extent.
Nobody wants to read complete crap in any forum, but on the other hand most people want an informal, laid back forum experience too. Forums change, people come and go, that's all there is to it. I think you'll find that the 'seniors' (if by that you mean moderators) feel that this particular topic is not worth discussing.
If you mean people who've been here for a while, I think you'll find that quite a few of those are guilty of the activities you describe in your first post, myself included!

Guess I would be guilty too, posted a lot of irrelevant crap in my time. But that’s just forums for you.

its a topic that has come up many many times in my time on esato. each time i find myself split down the middle. i agree with a lot of what vanqusih wrote in hi first post (execpt the mod bit just cause i never have dealings with them)
but it probably wont change as there are sections for intellectual debate which after a while just end up in people flaming each other. the recent religious thread was a fine example.
i think esato is what it is- newbies looking for help some stay and become part of the community some go
then you have the die hards and the sheep who just lick the bottom of all things se to try to be accepted.
and in the midst of it all you have many decent memebers who try to help people and have a bit of a joke from time to time.
whenever i feel a bit bored by esato i just disappear for a while and come back.

Maybe its a reason why people leave over a period of time : they just lose interest.
(P.S. By seniors i meant those who have been here for a long time, not moderators. )

people come to chat a rest and get away from reality for a while and most people dont want to then engage in deep and grossly inteligent debates and topics hours.
and by the way its a mobile phone forum! and between discussing phones its general chit chat that will do for most people.

your right some come back and others dont or dont post. i always think its down to the individual i dont mean this to sound nasty but if a forum does fullfill your needs find one that does.
i use other forums for other interests and come here for phone news (as its all in one place) and certain thread that catch my eye, i dont come here to lick the bum of se and tell everyone how wonderful they are as i m not really that bothered promoting a another multi-national corporation they have a budget (built into the cost of a handset) for that themselves |

I for one loved the
so who is religious here? thread. (Thank you peterkay and the many others for the good input, I learnt a lot from you guys) Its just a shame that after 115 pages it was ruined.
tbh i only visit here these's days for the mobile free zone threads

Intellectual and Nice.. Hmmmm.. Think this onez not been on Esato.. Stays in a White Mansion.. Can read bout him by going to www.google.com/ncr and putting Search Term 'failure' or 'Miserable Failure'. The first entry's on his Biography, some Mr. Bush . . . . . . . . . . . . . @Blue- Sorry Bro, no intension to add fuel to fire. But I "believe" Perfection is a Myth.. Even if its 'stupid' (as you put) it needs creativity. Thats Life, Thats Growth, Thats how the World (or Esato) is.. A mix of "varied" souls..
