Question about firmware upgrade |

I have the firmware called R1L002 since I bought the phone...I've tried to upgrade to the one on the sony ericsson website, but for some reason after I turn the phone off and held those buttons they asked me to hold the installation just didn't start. I'd like to know what is the software that has the least bugs, but still has better function over the R1L002, and where do I go to get any other software then the one on the official SE site.
