I just got the setup program for updating the K700i firmware from SE website. I installed it and I got nothing, no program group was created, no desktop shortcut, no control panel applet added, no nothing. So I browse program files for the directory where it was installed and all i get is a bunch of files and directories, where the only executable one is the uninstall exe.

Can someone tell me where i went wrong?

You didn't. It doesn't add a new program to your PC, it allows you to use the online update functions properly.

To use it you just have to go back to the online page and continue using the update service. (The page states not to close it when you're downloading the program, thats why)

oops
That leads to another problem for me here.
For some reason the website won't send the application for me, guess it could be some firewall problem, I had to have a friend download the application and send it over by email. Hmmm what then??

Could be lots of things, missing java on the pc (download the java runtime from www.java.com) security settings, pop up blockers/firewalls (and the like)

Make sure you're using IE, not firefox, ie beta's or any other browser as update service only works on IE. (might work on some that use the IE dll's but best to play it safe)

This is weird, the same happens with both my computers, I go thru the download procedure until i reach the page with the checklist, i check them all and press next, the next pages starts to load and stops with only the page title and the ohone picture on the side.

One system is running winxp home edition sp2 and the other winxp professional edition sp2

yes i'm using latest IE and latest java and all updates from microsoft
