I have a S700i (UK)
Would it work in Australia if i brought an Australian sim card and put it in? the phone is completly unlocked but im not sure about the GSM thingy
Is it the same in Oz as the UK ?

yes, we have the same range of GSM frequencies that UK has and I regularly flit back and forth usnig exactly the same phones... have done for years now
we also have CDMA too!

Thats great news, thanks for reply. I was going to sell the phone i have now and buy one out there but no need to, do you have a Pay as you go or similar top up card based sim cards?

CDMA is what Australia implemented to replace analogue services in the country areas. Apparantly it has larger range than GSM but I don't know much else. you do also get GSM coverage in the country towns too
yeah, we're not backwards you know we have all the prepaid you want. never used it myself as I have a pay monthly service with Telstra

Current CDMA handsets are pretty boring, but you can get camera phones and colour screens etc. |

i suggest you get an optus pre paid sim on the turbo charge plan.....buy 30 dollars credit and get 120 dollars credit its very good

nope no catch.
the only thing that close to a catch is that you get charged all standard call rates......
20c flagfall + 37c per minute calls
25c text
55c MMS
GPRS - weekdays 2.2c per KB + 15kb minimum per session
- weekends 1.1c per KB + 15kb min per session
