An appeal - can you help me? Unwanted mobiles wanted |
davebetter Joined: Apr 05, 2005 Posts: 3 PM |
Hi,
I am collecting all unwanted mobile phones for charity on behalf of ActionAidRecycling as part of their Mobile Phone Amnesty.
Seeing as everybody on this site is into phones there must be SO many unwanted handsets you've all got collectively gathering dust.
The phones would be either deployed to the third world or recycled for money which would then go these areas.
If you could help me, I would appreciate it. I can supply pre-paid postage bags too.
davebetter@gmail.com
Thanks,
Dave

I am sure you are genuine, but i think people would need proof you work for this charity before they give you their old phones.
No offense but anyone could say they were collecting for charity and easily sell the phones for £20+ ,and if everyone gave their old phones ,£20 would soon mount up for the scammer.
Can you provide any proof ?.

All I can really do is give you my word, if you like you can e-mail ActionAidRecycyling yourself and they will vouch that I am genuine:
vaughna@aarecycling.org.uk
Or e-mail them via their website in case you think the above e-mail address is phoney:
www.aarecycling.org.uk
The point of me asking for all phones working or otherwise is that a lot of people have probably got broken or practically value-less phones sitting around at home that they don't have the inclination to sell, either because they simply can't be bothered or because they know they are not of much material worth.
It's a shame when somebody doing a good deed such as this has to prove they are genuine but I understand why it has evoked that reaction.

Sorry,
The actual web address is:
http://www.actionaidrecycling.org.uk/
I wrote www.aarecycling.org.uk because the stem of their e-mail adresses is @aarecycling.org.uk
Hopefully you can see why I got confused. I understand you scepticism, I really do, but this is genuinely for a proper cause. My best friend is running the Mobile Phone Amnesty for him and I am trying to give him a boost with the project.
Honestly, give them a call and ask for Vaughn (the telephone number is on the website). i want you to check and confirm that I am genuine. |
