when I'm looking for definitions, I tend to go to google and type
define: topic
where topic is what I am interested in
you can find some good descriptions for your topic there too (certainly better than I can probably explain!)

then I am happy to cut and paste that for you, as a starting point
In computers, a pipeline is the continuous and somewhat overlapped movement of instruction to the processor or in the arithmetic steps taken by the processor to perform an instruction. Pipelining is the use of a pipeline. Without a pipeline, a computer processor gets the first instruction from memory, performs the operation it calls for, and then goes to get the next instruction from memory, and so forth. While fetching (getting) the instruction, the arithmetic part of the processor is idle. ...

In networking, pipelining is a technique used at the transport layer or data link layer in a layered network architecture that allows for the transmission of multiple frames without waiting to see if they are acknowledged on an individuals basis.

improves system performance by allowing the CPU to begin executing a second instruction before the first is completed. A pipeline can be likened to an assembly line, with a given part of the pipeline repeatedly executing a set part of an operation on a series of instructions.

1. In processor architecture, a method of fetching and decoding instructions that ensures that the processor never needs to wait; as soon as an instruction is executed, another is waiting. 2.In parallel processing, the method used to pass instructions from one processing unit to another.

The output of a program is used as an input data stream for another program.

An instruction pipeline is a technology used on microprocessors to enhance their performance. Pipelining greatly improves throughput.

if you are posting from ur phone... here is an idea...
create a new text message... type D pipelining (or whatever you want to define) and send that message (which will only say D [then word here])
and send it to 46645 (GOOGL) (google with out the e), and you will have a response in a few seconds.
edit: it says... In Computers, a pipeline is the continuous and somewhat overlapped movement of instruction to the processor.
