OKOK - your probably thinking "newbie, balh blah blah, all you have to do is use IP numbers instead of .... blah blah blah" but hear me out....

I got a t68 yesterday on Orange pay as you go. I have created a BTOpenWorld account to collect email from their dial up service. I have put all the settings into my t68, including IP's for the Pop3 and SMTP servers, but every time I go to "send and receive" it just says "cannot connect to server". It doesn't even appear to dial! It's really annoying me..... can anyone help?? Could it be because I'm on pay as you go? If it is then that sucks big time. Thanks for your help

I'm assuming your talking about a GPRS connection.

I'm on O2 Ireland, and had to input the DNS server manually into the data account setup for it to work.

Hope it helps

I've set it up to use a GSM connection because I don't think GPRS is available on orange pay as you go... Still don't see why it wont work though :-/ I have the same problem with WAP too - tries to connect then immediately says "failed" without doing any dialling Anyone out there know why this would happen?

Thanks, Yeti

I recognize yours problems!

1/ "tries to connect then immediately says "failed" without doing any dialling"
->Try to reboot your phone, it works for me! (bad software...)

2/ "Mail problem".
-> I got that problem in 50-60%.
For me it depends on where I am, think it has to do with how bad/good
the connection to the operator (orange) is...
(The indicator on the phone has to be at least 4/5)

Thanks mr_miu..... I will try this BUT... how do I "reboot" my phone? I take it you dont mean turning it off and then on again?

Thanks

"turning it off and then on again?..."

Hmmm, something like that, yes...
But you can also try to go to menu:
Connect -> GSM Networks -> New search!
Thatīs what they told me when I phoned them (Orange)

It sounds like u haven't got a data line on ur phone - what handset did you originally register with - cos T68 aint a pay as you go phone - its only on contract on orange at present - if you originally registered with a wap handset ring 451 for the helpdesk & ask for the settings or your sim to be data enabled - if you didn't register with a wap phone IMEI originally ring & try - but they may not do it - hope this helps. & GPRS aint available for pay as you go.......yet [addsig]

my friend had this problem and i didn't (we use the same software, same phones, same provider, same isp for mail, same gprs setup) all it took was to input the dns server from the operator (the one i usually use from one of the local isps (cause it's easy to remember) didn't work)
