O2 (UK) Voicemail Notification |

I've just moved from Orange to O2 (in the UK) and I was rather surprised to find that O2 doesn't provide "proper" notification of voicemails. By "proper" I mean displaying an icon on your phone; you only have a choice of a SMS message or a phone call.
Someone please tell me if I'm wrong!
Now it would seem that this used to be the case with T-Mobile see:

What do you think the chances are of putting similar pressure on O2? Does anyone here work in O2 who might have an insight into the O2 internal view on this? |

People on O2 don't seem to mind this. I couldn't stand it which is why I went back to Orange. Seems ridiculous to me that you either get a text message telling you to call your voicemail (which you need to delete) or the network calls you to tell you that you have a message. If you couldn't answer the phone the first time, what are the chances that you are still busy?
Vodafone is the same, including their 3G service (according to Vodafone staff) so I doubt O2 would be any different. As far as I know, Both Mercury, One 2 One and T-Mobile in the UK have always had the voicemail icon. |

I've only ever been with Orange - so I'm rather suprised to see that networks have such a low tech approach. |
