Problem writing to Sony 2GB MS Pro Duo |

I bought a Sony 2GB MS Pro Duo yesterday and formatted it in my W800i to get the standard file structure.
Then I started copying mp3 files into the /MP3 folder using my All-in-one card reader. It fails after 1 or a few songs and I get a "Device is not ready" error message - effectively the flash drive disappears and I have to eject and reinsert it to get Windows XP to recognise it again. This effectively cripples my ability to write to the 2GB card using my card reader. Copying the same files with the same card reader works fine on my SanDisk 512MB stick.
Now if I copy the same files to the 2GB card via the USB cable that came with the W800i it works fine and all the files can be written. However it is SO SLOW!!!
Would you conclude that my card reader (a generic USB 2.0 one) is incompatible with the 2GB card? Is there any logic to this? The card reader uses a chipset called IC1210.
Does anyone out there have a 2GB Sony card and can confirm that multiple large (3-4MB MP3) files can be written to it via a USB card reader?
TIA
Phil

OK now I'm seriously p*****d off as I waited hours for my songs to transfer via the cable only for them to disappear as soon as I disconnected the cable. I guess this is the new firmware bug.
Any specific advice about cheap card readers that work with the Sony 2GB card would be appreciated. |

it's not only the card reader. do you have usb 1.1 of usb 2.0 hubs on your computer? i am using a 1gb sandisc and file transfer via card reader is very fast. a 20 mb file transfers in less than a minute.

I had the same problem with my 1gb Duo Pro card on my K750i.
The solution appeared to be to put them into the \audio folder instead... it worked perfectly after that... |
